HOW DANGEROUS IS APP-UNLOCKING MY SPV??

Hello everybody,

i'm from holland, just got me a brand new SPV,

and i was wondering,

HOW dangerous is it, actually, unlocking the whole thing?

because i AM loosing my warranty i suppose, by doing so??

what tricks have you guys come up with to forecome that?

App unlocking will not invalidate your warranty :)

And it's not dangerous at all, is the best thing you can do with the phone

as it opens up a whole new world for you :(

If you SIM unlock you phone then this will invalidate you warranty

as you would be using another network providers SIM

Of course, we only unlock our phones to test applications that we are writing :wink:

if u dont unlock ur phone u will get tired of it after a while because its all the same-go 4 it,i did and havent had any problems at all

Dangerous? Not so far, we've not yet had a malicious app AFAIK (touch wood). They'll come though, no doubt about that. When the north American market comes online maybe there'll be a bigger target audience for that kind of thing. Who knows? But right now it's safe and, as awarner implies, your SPV's usefulness will increase tenfold.

one of the reasons i'm VERY happy with my phone, is that other users are quite friendly :-O

so, when i unlock it, which i will!! ;-)

what do i get?

what are the pro's (since that's how i see you)

use these days?

OF course i could start trying out every app for myself,

but i'd rather learn from YOUR mistakes.

celeborn: It depends on how/what you use your phone for; you could not start a better place than http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software.html. If there's decent, proven software doing the rounds then it's listed there.

And out of mono's site the two must have apps are

Smart explorer and Task Manager, get these first then

your phone will be easier and more controlable :)

And then move onto Doom (great tech showoff, but no save yet :( )

Then GnuBoy (a rather nice gameboy/gameboy colour emulator)

Pocket divx/Pocket tv

And a number of other gems (try boxy pocket for a good free game :) )

Oh the list goes on........
