Guest malloc Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 New version available NEW Download Page THE LINK HAS BEEN UPDATED - March 16 2004 What's new - Stop / play / playlist handling now ok with audio files (but still no pause/resume/seek for MP3 and OGG, couldn't find the bug) [FIXED] - Equalizer for MP3 & Divx with MP3 sound - plays OGG Vorbis files (really  ) - added some new menus : equalizer config, backlight state, reinit Registry... I did some tests with OGG play, at 64Kbps the quality very good (better than 64Kb WMA), background play is possible without to many interruptions (at least while browsing the net with pocketIE), and with easy playlists edition (.PDL), it's now my default music player 8) I probably won't make any new version, unless new bugs are discovered... Have fun :) malloc
Guest madu Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 Awesome Malloc!!! I like it a lot (and with my skin on....) IT JUST ROCKS!! And my congrats on the equalizer - you're the first to do THAT!!!! Cool! Though I am very disappointed that MP3 resume doesn't work :) those 50min sets are just unplayable now :( I do use the earlier version to play those. But need to change registry every time I use newer/older version. Could you possibly make them use different reg Keys (like PocketMVP4 or smthin)?? That would be greatly appreciated... Thanks madu
Guest caio1 Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 You rule!!! Superb!!! (I hope it's as always when you say it's your last release... ) Thank you a lot. Caio
Guest neilfenstein Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 Is the download a cab file cos im trying to get it on my phone, but it does not work properly just covers the screen in letters and symbols!
Guest madu Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 WOW!!! Having an equaliser rocks!! Totally amazing!! I love my music! (and you malloc!) :) 9.9/10! [damn that resume worth 0.1!] hehe :(
Guest caio1 Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 @neilfenstein yes it's a cab, right click and choose "save target as" Then copy it with activesync on ipsmwindowsstart menuaccessories and then go there through spv programs menu and launch it. Caio

Caio He was trying to download it straight into his phone (which for some reason in this case won't work?)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 Had one problem, opening a file then part playing it, then choosing another file etc made MVP freeze. I had to press end call button to get out :? I guess it's down to not enough free memory?
Guest Simon Desser Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 I liked the previous version, because it allowed you to keep the backlight on, without it affecting your "Power Management" settings. This version alters the setting to "Screen Saver Mode = Turn off" resulting in a blank screen (which I don't like) Is there any way to stop this version from doing that (maybe a registry setting)? if not I think I'll use the previous version.
Guest mrjuglas Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 What's the PocketMVP with SOURCES? (http://www.angelfire.com/alt/spv-soft/pocketmvp_8r.rar) how does it differ to the other (http://www.angelfire.com/alt/spv-soft/pocketmvp.cab)?
Guest malloc Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 I solved the pause / seek problem with Audio files :) Also the PowerManagement settings are setback correctly on exit now (sorry about that one, forgot to remove temporary modificiations for debug  ) The new updated version is available at the same location... It's probably going to be the last version this time... honestly  malloc

I had to press end call button to get out :? I guess it's down to not enough free memory? Yes this is a big problem... It's hard to find exactly where the bug is, there's 3 running threads with many events to synchronize them, and some time the main thread waits for another indefinitely because he didn't receive the event he was waiting for... It's quite hard to trace the code when it does that  Anyway I rather prefer to quit PocketMvp after playing a file, before opening a new one... malloc

Guest malloc Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 What about making a seek the recovers a/v sync ? (tried seeking on mikes_new_car_sps, it looses the a/v sync) The thing is, I NEVER PLAY MPG VIDEO FILES with PocketMvp :( ...so I don't really care... as the a/v sync recovers perfectly with Divx files and that's all I want 8) Anyway I think that people who wants to play Mpg video files should consider using PocketTV wich seems far better for this purpose only  I rather prefer Full Screen Divx !!! Merci
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 Sorry, I was just reporting a genuine problem I found in PocketDivX on the Smartphone. Of course, the bug is not your fault, but nonetheless it exists. We have had similar bugs in PocketTV, too :) The a/v sync issues are exacerbated when using low-bitrate streams. I'm not trying to confront PocketDivX or to say that you did a bad job... In fact you did a pretty impressive job with the PocketDivX port, also given that you just did that for yourself. We appreciate that. Hopefully someone else to continue your work. So please don't get upset just because we report a bug (we certainely don't when people report bugs in our app). Especially since you are not to blame for that one, so you should not take it personally. Yes, the problem is in the underlying decoder(s), and i'm sure Mark Dukette knows about it, since I have seen reports of this problems for years and years. Unfortunately Mark is more busy adding support for new formats than fixing bugs :( You're probably right that PocketDivX is not the best solution to play MPEG video, but it does a good job at playing other audio and video formats that are not supported by other apps, and it's also a pretty good audio player (MP3 etc).
Guest jim80b Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 what he said... heres the same video but in avi... no problems and it took all of 1 min to open it in vdub and save it. (V.nice malloc, mvp plays 32 bit audio in divx's fine :-)... well it does in the file posted so am off to convert some music vids and try them out)mikes_new_car_sps.zip
Guest jim80b Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 opps i ment wjat malloc said but anyway nice response pocket tv. its great seeing both partys agreeing. pocket tv for mpeg and mvp for divx is the way to go :) :D :(
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 Just a stupid question: If I want to play this file on the desktop, what should I install ? On my XP system, WMP only plays the audio... screen is black.
Guest jim80b Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 the divx codec. www.divx.com the codec i used was 5.03 so anything higher is fine
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 > what he said... heres the same video but in avi... no problems Yes, it plays well with PocketDivX, but when I stop the file and try seeking forward (button 3), it goes nowhere...?
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 the divx codec. www.divx.com the codec i used was 5.03 so anything higher is fine On this page: http://www.divx.com/divx/ Will the "Original DivX encoder and decoder" be able to play 5.03 ? Or is it necessary to pay (or get adware) ? EDITED: the "Original DivX encoder and decoder" can play it :-)
Guest jim80b Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 seek works by pausing then using 3 to jump forward. pressing 5 is stop and is sposed to write the position to the reg so you can resume from that point... (correct me if i am wrong anyone) pocket tv, welcome to the world of divx :)

(correct me if i am wrong anyone) pocket tv, welcome to the world of divx :) Hey, we've used DivX for a long time, mostly on Pocket PC's... but not on XP! :( But I still cannot get seek to work with 1 and 3 on the smartphone (e.g. using the "mike's new car" avi file above).
