Guest drblow Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Can anyone clarify for me the name of the colour for the unselected program menu text?? (see pic) I have been trying to set it using the MS smartphone theme generator - but it comes out black every time!! What is it called in the colour scheme?untitled.jpg
Guest Richie M Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 I believe its "COLOR_MENUTEXT" but i could be wrong :? Just have a look to see which ones you have set to #000000 that'll narrow down the possibilities :)
Guest drblow Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Actually it's COLOUR_WINDOWTEXT !! After a rabid 2 hour colour changing session!! Which the stupid MS theme generator doesnt seem to do! In fact, after endlessly searching & changing every bloody colour on the phone this morning, I have discovered that once you add the missing colours to a scheme - the MS theme generator won't open them!! :x Thanks for the help anyway Richie M!! P.S. When I am messing with home screens, I always change the home screen on the phone to something other than the one I am copy/pasting into the HOME folder. Is this necessary, or will the home screen update itself if I just copy files into it & wait!?! How do you more experienced guys do your testing? Does it have to be this annoying!?

Er, dunno about anyone else - i do mine the same way - boring and tedious but it works and no the homescreen doesn't seem to update itself (it keeps it in memory until the actuall theme is changed) Well done on finding the colour, i tend to try not to mess with the schemes cos they seem to be more hassle than they are worth :)
Guest drblow Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Richie M - I usually do coulour schemes with the MS theme generator, but it seems that it doesnt cover all the colours, so as I wanted to make more changes, it became pretty useless!! It is a b**tard trying to sort them out when you have to make a single change & copy to the phone, just to find that it's the wrong colour!! I use your tip about getting the colour code from photoshop (I use Macromedia Fireworks). It seems to be the best way of seeing a colour & getting it's code. Do you find subtle differences in colours from the PC screen to the SPV screen - or is just Fireworks?? I have an old photoshop 5 - but am not very familiar with it.
Guest Richie M Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Yeah, theres quite a bit of difference between colours on the SPV and PC screen :)
Guest drblow Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Another colour code question! Can you change the colour of text which appears on info screens etc? Also the text in calendar for 'no upcoming appointments'? They all seem to default to black. Any ideas??
Guest Richie M Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Er the colour for "no upcoming appointments" is the fgcolor in the "calendar" plug-in. You can change the colour of text in the info screens etc, thats one of them in the colour scheme but i'm not sure which one :? sorry
Guest madu Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 I believe you can test your schemes on SDK emulator, but I have not tried it... (there's a folder in SDK folder that contains home.xml - just search) Also, when you get that working on the emulator, try changing your screen (whatsitcalled?) temperature(?) to less [x000 degrees K] making white - kinda yellowish (like on older monitors) -> that should roughly reflect SP screen... (methink)
Guest drblow Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Er the colour for "no upcoming appointments" is the fgcolor in the "calendar" plug-in. I don't think it is the fgcolour - when I change that, it changes the selected colour of the whole plugin - i.e. instead of the current transparent slection, it comes up with a block of the fgcolour over the whole plugin area. Or am I just doing it wrong?! I know everybody says to check things a zillion times, but I have tried this well ... a few million say!!
Guest madu Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 There's something wrong there mate! I have my fgcolor="#FFFFFF" and it displays white text. Make sure you have bgcolor="transparent" PS: Make sure it is 'FGCOLOR' NOT 'FGCOLOUR' [EDIT] Oh, and to help you with the colors here are a coupla links: - Online Version http://andy.greyledge.net/ColorChip/example.php - Homepage with downloadable version http://andy.greyledge.net/ColorChip/
Guest drblow Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 madu - Eh, of course you are right!! I had also selected background colour! I think I might wait until I have checked things several billion times before posting hastily! I am in serious danger of showing myself to be the total idiot that I really am! :) Still doesn't affect the colour of text for the 'no upcoming appointment' (I am referring to actually in pocket outlook, not just on the home screen plugin - if you look at the calendar day view for any selected day with no appointments, there is a box at the top of the screen which says 'no upcoming appointments' in black text. I would like it (and text for other info screens, error screen etc) to be white. ????????????????????????? Oh - P.S. - I have been entering the following colour in my colour scheme - #6666ff - which macromedia fireworks tells me is dark grey - but it comes up blue on the SPV. Is there a definitive list of all the codes for all the colours anywhere??
Guest midnight Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 errr, #6666ff is blue m8, try #666666, which is a middle to dark grey, as for the plugin colour, you should be able to set text colour per plugin if i'm not mistaken (which i prolly am, not really looked at homescreens much)
Guest ppcsurfr Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Play around with the xml files... they're much more fun... I have this HTML Bible and all the colors I need are there... or sometimes... you can use photoshop and pick out the color you really want. Mabuhay ~ Carlo (ppcsurfr)
Guest Richie M Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 drblow - as far as i'm aware you cannot change the colour in Pocket Outlook - as thats shown by the app not home.exe which displays the homescreen :)
Guest drblow Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Cheers fellas!! Not sure what the problem with the blue/grey thing is!? :? I use macromedia fireworks - and it definately says #6666ff for dark grey!? Oh well, the links madu provided seem to be a much better indication of colour! Thanks for that madu!! As for using th SDK to see colours better - to be honest I haven't got a clue how to use the SDK, and any time I have tried it makes my eyes go funny!! Is there a losers guide to the SDK?
Guest nige Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 drblow - attached a gif file with RGB-hex colour codes - hope this helpsRGB to HTML.gif
