Guest jim80b Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 get taskman and smartexplorer!!! www.binarys.com 1. midnights tweeks are ziped cabs. put the cab on the phone usiong activesync. use smartexplorer to run them, or activesynce then to ispmwindowsstart menuaccesorys and run them off the programs softkey 2. create shortcut from where you have put quickclose and put it in the dir above. then go to it and add a speed dial (usiong the right softkey) 3. smartexplorer will access the storage card. 4.you might have to create the sounds dir in ispmaplication data 5. put the cab on the phone and run ity using smartexplorer. ps theres other file explorers out but this ones free and it good.
Guest Will Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 1. Intially I wanted to spped up my SPV, however I'm havin problems extrating the files on Midnight site. Pls help. er what problems.. be more specific plz. 2. When I install quick close, where do I put it, i assume my SD card, but then how the feck do I find it. not used it sorry 3. how do I access my sd card without havin to take it out and puttin it back in a again use a product like all-eplorer, or Smart-Explorer, see www. monolithix.org for a free one! 4. on the Smartphone.com website when tryin to use a wav file as a ring tone I can't seem to find some of the folders they refer to on the phone. you can safely create the folder IPSM/Application Data/Sounds on your phone. 5. I've d/l register editer, but where do I put it on teh Sd card or leave it on my drive. If you downloaded the 'exe' file run it on the pc, if you downloaded the 'cab' version put it on the storage card. If you don't want to fiddle too much, create shortcuts to the application(right click - create shortcut), then move this shortcut to IPSM/Windows/Start Menu. Will
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 One thing you have not mentioned is.. Have you decerted your phopne yet? If not go to the Orange developers site here to decert over the air as your phones new aparently this is now the onlt method that works :? not sure on this but I will be testing the decert process later in the week. Until you have decerted your phone you will not be able to use Quick close and the reg editor as they have not been certified. PS Quick close, via Activsync place it on your storage card then copy and paste a shortcut to IPSMWindowsStart MenuAcessories you will then be able to run it from there. Also moved to Help and advice
Guest ketansonigra Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Thanks 4 reply. I have d/l smart explorer. Can someone talk me thru installing it on to my spv. I would like to put it on my sd card, as I heard that dosen't slow down the phone. Help
Guest jim80b Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 do you have the cab or the installer. if the installer just run it. if cab activesynce it to ispmwindowsstart munuapps and then you can select the cab from the startmenu (in the apps dir) doing this it refreshs when you enter that dir so its better to put here then just in the start menu. the cab gets deleted after so dont worry about space on the phone. then it asks where u want it to go. :)
Guest ketansonigra Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 i must sound like some sort of prat when I say this but to be honest I don't know, 'this phones got me f*cked' Now when I d/l it it came up as a win RAR file, when i extrated it I got 3 files. one was this icon that looks like a little ball with 2 arrows comin out of it does that help. Thanks 4 ur patients [Edited by Will (language)]
Guest ketansonigra Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 its ok I managed to work it, thanks 4 the help. One more thing how do I play a wav file ring tone on the phone. do I have to put it on my phone or can I save it one my sd card and use it via that. If I can I assume I need to use smart explorer, or is it simplier then that. P.s. how do I use smart expolorer to acess the ring tone
Guest jim80b Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 simple way is to put it in the ispmapp datasounds dir. In settingssounds you can select it as your ringtone. if u want to just play it brose to it using smartexplorer and click the action button (the big one in the middle)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 As Will posted above wav filesringtones go in the folder IPSM/Application Data/Sounds If you do not have a Sounds folder create one. All this can be done via Acticsync, also the ringtone file has to be midi 0 or it will not play and you will just get a beep sound. got distracted watching BBC1 so a bit late on the submit button
Guest ketansonigra Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 thats what I did the first time round, however that means that use up space on the phone. When I did this last time it worked about 3 times when someone ran me then it reverted back to the shitty ring tones. 've managed to put registry editor, I tried to do it from there but it just dosen't have it. Is it possiable that the file is just too big to let me do that sort of thing. the wav file is 1mb, maybe thats just too big to play??? thanks a lot 4 the help I apologise for the fact that i am a real feckin shitpicker with this sort of thing
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Strange it should not revert back? what sot of size was the wav file? Also you can store the ringtone on the storage card by tweaking the registery. Details found at midnight's site http://www.way2access.net/midnight/?page=tweaks but as you are new to the phone I would suggest you get used to the phone first before playing with the registery, because if you are not carefull you can mess up your phone. Also don't worry about asking questions we all had to start somewhere.
Guest ketansonigra Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 thats what I did, I tweeked the registry (I know its a bit cocky of me seein as I just got the phone), but it just reverted bac to a normal tone, I thinks its too big to upload and ring. anyone got any ideas. ???? P.S. Can I use registry editor to change my homepage ??, I must be able to. I haven't checked midnights site though. maybe its on there
Guest jim80b Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 if you have tweeks the reg thats why u get the default beep. if the path is wrong it reverts to a default setting. or if a file is missing (ie u take the card out and someone rings) etc go read midnights site. its a must before regsetting
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Can I use registry editor to change my homepage ?? You don't need to, have a look around for a home screen you like and more than likely it will be in a .hme format Just place the .hme in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories then on the phone go ProgramsAcessories and you will see the .hme file there. Run the file and it will install the home screen for you. :)
