Guest rogerbates Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Does anyone know a way of changing the incall volume without using the keys on the side? My - volume key has got stuck and I can't turn the volume down. When I try it just turns the volume up so I ended up on full volume. Now everytime I use my phone I am deafened! It is seriously doing my head in and there is no way I will be able to take the phone in for a few weeks to get it sorted. Spending the next few weeks trying to make calls like this is going to be a nightmare. I have tried searching through the settings but the only way that I can find to change the call volume is during a call with the volume keys.
Guest madu Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Maybe in registry? Since you have a few weeks to go, try Regedit - it must be somewhere... Maybe I'l have a look later, but don't count on it just now...
Guest martin Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 In registry editor goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Volume. Select values and click on volume to edit value data. 0 Bar, Volume=0 1 Bar, Volume=858993459 2 Bars, Volume=1717986918 3 Bars, Volume=2576980377 4 Bars, Volume=3435973836 5 Bars, Volume=4294967295 Nice big numbers for you...
Guest rogerbates Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Cheers Martin, I tried that but the volume was set to Volume=858993459 which is the second lowest. So I used Media Player to turn it up a bar and checked it again and it had gone up to one bar to Volume=1717986918 so that must be the system volume. I made a call just to be sure and it was still set to full so hadn't changed. I looked over the Regedit thing but could only find the volumes that you can set on the phone, like in profiles etc. I haven't got a clue about the editing the Registry, not even sure what it is to be honest. But have heard that it is a bit dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. It seems stupid though that you can change all the other volumes on the phone like ring volume, key volume etc actually in the settings. But you can't change the call volume, what with it being a phone you'd think that was pretty important. Orange have told me that it will cost me £70 unless I can prove to the warranty people that it wasn't my fault and that it was a fault with the phone. Not likely is it. Don't really want to replace the phone but it is impossible to make calls without the handsfree set. There must be some way of changing the call volume, somewhere! I don't really want to pay £70 just cos my phone is too loud.
Guest rogerbates Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Just to let you know that I sorted out the call volume problem. I tried for days to solve it and eventually realised that it is impossible to change the call volume without using those volume keys. You can change every other volume on the phone just not the call volume. The only thing to do is call Orange and get another phone! Which I did, so just a warning to everyone look after those volume keys. If they go, you need a new phone.
