Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Theres an eBook reader and Bible ebook available at Handango: www.handango.com
Guest Lojt Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 There was a bible program some days ago on handango.... just cant seem to find it now :|
Guest nickcornaglia Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 If you go to Guttenberg Project websites you can download a 4MB text file of the bible. Pocket IE will open it. You can also change it to an HTML file in word which will convert it to a 12MB file. The HTML file is cleaner and the word wrap as opposed to the plain txt version. Not the best option since the file opens very slow but maybe you can save the individual books as seperate files. Just a thought 'til you find something better.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Do you have a link to guttenburg Project? Also txt files can be opened and wordwrap used with apps such as Notbad etc
Guest Lojt Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 A quick google search: http://gutenberg.net/
Guest martinb Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 How about using one of the text format Bibles freely available on the web in conjunction with the newly announced Tiny eBook Reader? That would allow you to read the text files whilst leaving them inside the Zip file. Personally, I'd like to see the Laridian PocketBible ported to Smartphone.... Martin
Guest mark8barnes Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Then why not write to them? I did, and they said "You can be sure that support for the SmartPhone is being considered." Perhaps if some other users also email, we could encourage them a little. Other companies that produce Bible software for the PocketPC, could perhaps be similarly encouraged. Guest Gorskar Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Well you can get a bible on your phone, perhaps not ideal but better than a standard ebook possibly: The Bible is available as a database for $5.95 here The reader can be downloaded free
Guest adi116 Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 i have downloaded an HTML bible, i modified the index portion to make browsing through the SPV much easier. i'm trying to share it with other users but i find problems in uploading.
Guest Gorskar Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 if you make it a zip file you should be able to upload it to the forum. Give it a shot anyway: I'd be interested to give it a try on my phone.
Guest adi116 Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 You wont regret it, if you give it a try. :) it is wonderful to have the word of God in your cellphone. But the problem is... no matter how hard i try. it wont work (actually i'm uploading the zip file). However if you want you can download the bible at htmlbible.com (ASV version). I'll just e-mail to you or post here the modified index.
