If the handset has been reported as lost or stolen it's doubtful that there is anything (legal) that you can do.

AFAIK the only way it would be possible is to change the phone's IMEI number (serial number), which is

a) Illegal

:) Very hard if not imposible

and

c) Illegal

Sorry about that!

You could try talking to the original owner to see if he can get it re-registered, but I doubt if the network would allow that.

P.S. - I think that you posted this twice

unblocking is not possible.

The guy who sold it should not have done, I would request a refund, as the phone is the property of the insurer, who provided the replacement.

Sorry

The previous owner can contact the cops and ask them to get the IMEI removed from the banned list - it's *only* the Police that can do this, and they will do so provided they have adequate proof. They will then contact Orange and Orange will remove it from their "banned" list.

A word of advice to all (with apologies if I'm stating the obvious): Use your heads here people; when buying a 2nd hand mobile especially off ebay or any other online auction-thingy, make sure the sender can provide you with an original receipt - he ain't going to need it any more and, let's face it, one of the most dodgy things you can buy is a mobile without receipt/box/manual; there's a reasonable chance it's been nicked. Then, no matter whether you bought it in good faith or not, you're hanging on a receiving stolen goods rap...not pleasant.
