Guest pierre Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 My SPV is not anymore synchronising the inbox over the air, so I thought of trying to hard-reset or reboot (what's the difference btw?). Thing is I got IA Album + SP' apps, and would like to be able to use them again. Is there an easy way (given I'm not an expert)? Thank you!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 A hard reset will erase the IPSM and return the phone to the "out of the box settings" A reboot (also known as a power cycle or soft reset to name a few ) this just means you power down the phone (turn off) and switch it back on. If you do a hard reset you will need to reinstall all you apps again :) Now back to the original problem, check in Activsync that on FileConnection Settings you have Allow USB connection box checked. for some reason on my PC with XP home this option decides to un-check it's self some times :?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 However, for OTA sync...i assmue you're using normal POP3/IMAP access? If so does GPRS work for other applications? (MSN, IE etc...)
Guest pierre Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Oh, I should mention it is a connection to the company's network, and it synchronise "over-the-air" information, such as inbox, contacts, Calendar & tasks. A month ago, I went to Egypt for a week, and left the cell switched on on my desk. When I came back it was frozen, and an error message was there about the synchro (which is nothing unusual). After rebooting, it never again synchronised the emails. Yet, most surprisingly is that contacts and calendar still are being synchronised succesfully..! :( I tried many things, and befor bringing it back to Orange, I thought I should try a hard reset. Will I have to pay again for IA' album and reset everything from A to Z? :x Cheers! :) P.S. yes, I can still use IE & MSN
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 OK, sounds screwed :) You could try disabling and recreating the sync settings. However if you do resort to a hard reset you shouldn't have to buy your software again. Just go to your Handango account and "redownload past software purchases".
Guest pierre Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 OK, thanks for the advice, I'll try to sort this all out.
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Good luck .. it shouldn't turn out to be a problem at all! And you might consider making a back-up CD of your programs :) (and all other apps/tweaks/ringtones etc etc - for easy rebuilding if it happens again *S*)
Guest pierre Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Thanks for the good advice. I guess it's by trying that one learns.. :)
