Guest Rigsta Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 OK, I updated the phone and followed the steps (except I used the "dechelp.exe" to copy the file, which worked.) I copied the file across from the phone to see if it had worked properly - it had. Had some connectivity problems, so I rebooted the phone... and the file was back to it's old self. I try to test it with an unsigned program, except I can't navigate to my SD card to start the bloody thing... So I install the ALL explorer from the SD card for that purpose... and it can't connect to the internet to activate the explorer. Lovely.... Am I better off just starting over? (ie. deleting my IPSM *AGAIN* etc.) -------------------------- On a side note, how do I stop the reminder sound from repeating? EDIT: GPRS is back up now... God, this is hard work. I swear I have the windows touch of death or something. In fact, I've managed it. Phone is de-certed! yay! now, I just need to get that reminder beep to stop repeating...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 First off Welcome to the site :) Now the file will revert back to the original form on a power cycle, this is normal as the file is only read on a hard resetunlock cycle. All-explorer is known to be problem connecting to the internet, best bet is to register manually. Have a look in softwar for Smart explorer and try using this, if your phone is decerted it will work, otherwise yes you will have to do the whole decert process again ;)
Guest THE-SLAVE Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 many people have probably asked, and this question has probably been answered but can someone tell me how to unlock the phone for sims and software. pls dont give me a dutch or french website link or answears in any other language.
Guest Gorskar Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Your best bet is to have a look at www.coolsmartphone.com All the info is collected there I believe. If after having read through that lot you need help with something specific then please ask away.

Guest Vector Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 yeah, the phone will still be decerted :wink:
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Yes once the phone has been decerted it will only become certified again if your regisery becomes corrupt (dodgy xml can do this) as the phone has an auto repair feature built into it. The XML file you altered is only looked at when you do a hard reset decert process so when you switch offreboot the phone the windows folder gets rewritten so the changed xml file will be replaced.
Guest Rigsta Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Hmm, I like smart explorer better than the ALL explorer. One slight problem is that it doesn't seem to want to display properties for well, anything :-/ Odd. Lesee here, what else am I doing.... adding shortcuts to the start menu. Is there any way to force the phone to refresh the start menu without restarting it? (I added a folder and shortcuts to it, but it doesn't seem to refresh without a restart). And I'm still wondering about how to stop the reminder sound from repeating ;) hmm, lots of questions.... :);
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 To refresh the start menu, go into a folder, then back out. This will not work if the folder no longer exists under that name. If you've modified all the folders, then you will need to restart the phone. I have a vague memory of another way to refresh the menu, but can't find it in search.
