You cannot. It should store custom words when they are entered in ABC mode, but users reported T9 forgetting custom words after reboot or not remembering them altogether.. :)

addendum to madu's post: there's a file in the IPSMApplication DataSystem directory called mst9.udb - this file seems to store the words that the T9 has "learnt" but we haven't yet found a way to edit this file, or quite what format the words are stored in. Solve this one and you're up for multiple respect-shots :)

I think that i cant edit my t9 file cause is in rom and is not writeable. My target is to put and use a greek t9 file.So is there any way to 'link' the t9engine so it reads the t9 file i want from my ram?maybe with a reg edit?but i dont know how to use any of this thinks.

Or can i flash the rom with this?(i think its unpossible).

Where did you get a greek T9 file??

You can use a different T9 file by changing registry settings... There is a post on that somewhere here, but if you can't find it then best of all speak to midnight -> he is THE guy to spk to about registry :)

it aint that bad, i was gionna do it, but apparently paul is working on it, so i wont bother :)

afterall, its only a unified database file, easy to make a small app that changes it (from the pc, i dont know diddly about coding on the sp yet, but gonna start soon)

Yes midnight, but I think a T9 DLL needs to be entered in registry for T9 Config Utility to pick it up...

[EDIT] On another note, I am not sure if it has to be registered, but I guess it needs to be in windows folder... Right??

Here is the original method on which Config Util is based:

Maybe if you enter full path to your T9 file under (see above link for details):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Input/LDBs

like "IPSMWindowst9greek.dll" then it would find & recognise the library?

But if it won't it is likely that the registry may rebuild itself :)

oh, and for different languages,us thuis little t9 language selector...

T9 Config Utility

i use the utilitie which it reads the t9greek.dll but after the restart tht need to be done the greek file is missing propably cause i tried to write it in rom and after the power off reset the phone reads only the flashed rom.the file is a greek t9 from sl45i which use the same t9 tegic engine.

errr, did you put it in Windows or IPSMWindows? cos if you have put it in IPSMWindows it wont be deleted.

errr, the t9 file is from and sl45? and it works? cool hehe, i wouldnt have thought that would work

was just wondering about that SL45 T9 - I've still got backups of the T9 from my old SL45, maybe they could be used in an emergency :)

midnight: is there any app available to open/edit mst9.udb?

Guest midnight

nope, like i said, i had heard paul was working on it, should be easy enough to make

Guest Chris b.a.r.f.

ah, ok - i was under the impression that you already had found an app that could open it

Apparently Paul is working on it, but as he says - it's proving to be a pain...

Re: SL45 Dlls - I used a (guess!) russian DLL (and the phone does support cyrillics) - well, I can NOT enter ANY text now. I referenced the file as described above... Maybe it can't find the file in IPSM or maybe it's just not compatible :) And also, I could not extract english T9 from ROM - not with ActiveSync, nor any of the 3 file explorers (Binaries, All-Loc, DAT), if anyone could kindly post the original T9ENGLIS.DLL here, I will let you know whether it accepts that one placed in IPSM... :(

i put it in windows cause the other t9 lnges files are there too.

If i back up the phone in my sd with the old bootloader, i back up the full rom(32mb)or just the ipsm file?and can i edit the back up?if so then i can add the language i want and flash it to the phone.

you cant add to the windows dir, it only saves the files if they are in IPSMWindows, try placing it there and it should work after a reboot without probs

Guest madu

midnight, the T9 Config Utility does not see files in IPSMWindows :)

thats right, can we make the utility load files from ipsmwindows?

I am not sure it OS can use files that are not in ROM.

Try this:

Regedit> HKCM>Input>LDB>

values with t9englis.dll > insted put: IPSMWindowst9greek.dll

Restart

See if it works. If not, open T9 Utility and change it back to t9englis (for English UK/US)

What really gets on my Nelly is the fact that the SPV loses the words you've added to the file located in IPSMApplication DataSystemmst9.udb after a reboot, so a way to possibly keep your words would be to use FileExplorer to copy the mst9.udb file to a directory on the Storage card (it's only about 4kb or something small at the moment) and then when the SPV reboots simply overwrite the file in there with the one copied to the storage card, an automated program to this do on startup would be a real boon. Subtle hint there for any budding developers that may read this message  An extra note for all these people who write about not being able to edit the file is that I've just copied it onto my PC and then viewed in Context but it's obviously some sort of database since there are control characters that are not displayed, does anyone have the key to this format? Is the format Proprietary?

Cheers!

The last working solution was to enter all words you want in a New SMS and 'Postpone message' (ie save in Drafts)

Also update to 1.6 if you are on SPV or E100 and have not yet updated.
