Guest Speedy Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Well i would liked to have posted a final solution for decerting update2 but this is the best i was able to do. Anyway, if you are fed up with having an undecertified phone there is a way for you to change that, even if you are running dk update2. Here is what I did. make sure you backup all before doing this!!!! Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any damage you may inflict on your device. -first of all i rolled back my update to dk1 -I did this by (as posted by paul) using the file caclearjump.exe located in c:program filesRUU -sync this file to your phone and run it -your phone should reboot and start up with a white screen -press and hold action key and the phone should enter the bootloader -erase the ipsm -after that has completed reboot the phone and put it in your sync cradle -you will notice that it does not startup normally but stays in the three coloured canary screen -From you pc, run the dk update1 (thanks awarner) -this will take a while but just let it finish that -now your phone should be in dk update1 state and you are able to decert the original way :) However this was where i got stuck, because i thought that i was now able to backup my phone in the booloader but that option did not appear to be there. So apparently i has not completely replaced the rom i guess?!? since i still only have the "erase IPSM" option. My conclusion is that we have two choices at the moment. 1. You can have a decerted SPV running dk update1 (with all the bugs ;) ) or 2. You can have a undecerted SPV running dk update2 (with bugs fixed, but no unsigned apps :D ) As we put it in danish you have the choice between "pest eller kolera" This was as far as i was able to get. If anybody can use this to make a complete solution, please do so. Or if somebody can think of a way to backup your IPSM some other way perhaps. Hope this helps
Guest DJHope Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 You just need to flash back the old bootloader onto an sd card (any size), it can be found http://www.smartphone.fr.fm here! A card reader is required! Once flashed on, start up smartphone with SD card in and voice recorder held down and it should ask you if you wanna flash back the bootloader. http://62.4.16.139/jc/backup/BOOT.zip theirs the exact link to the bootloader (0.93 is the best one) Then you will be able todo an IPSM/Save ALL etc DJ Hope
Guest Speedy Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Now all i need is a card reader ;) Well, has anyone who owns a card reader tried this??? Anybody near the city of Århus :)
Guest Gorskar Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Card readers are cheap - you can get them for about £10 (not sure on what that is in euros - 15 ish?)
Guest muude Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I'll buy one tomorrow or monday and then try it out... I'll post the result afterwards...
Guest Speedy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 So whats the news muude? Have you done it?? I am very anxious to hear from you.
Guest muude Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 My card reader is planned to arrive in 1 month... Think I'll get it somewhere else... Don't feel like waiting that long...
Guest Speedy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I can understand that. Well, for now i will wait in anxiety :)
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 One month! Where'd they sending it from? Neptune?
Guest muude Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Not really sure about that, but it's definately a possibility... Think I'll have to wait, cuz it's probably too hard to cancel the order now when it's already been ordered from somewhere else... Maybe I'll borrow a mate's card reader, although I'm not that sure he'll let me since I always break stuff...
Guest Speedy Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 PLEASE DO IT. I cannot bear to wait any longer to find out if this works!!! thanks, :)
Guest MECX Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 so is the plan to backup the decerted ISPM then update to DK2 then reinstall the ISPM to keep the decert?? does the DK2 bootloader allow you to just reinstall IPSM? or are you gonna backup the IPSM in decert mode then install DK2--put back the old bootloader then install the old IPSM my god that is complicated.
Guest muude Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 I have a feeling this is going to take a couple of tries once I finally get the d*mn card-reader...
Guest Lojt Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Why dont you guys just use the usbterm program to copy the old ispm over? I've done it, it works, but it still have the bugs from the first update... btw, this solution has been discussed alot here...unless im missing something? :| This one the same day as the patch: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...4572&highlight= and this one: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...4827&highlight=
Guest muude Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Don't you still need a card-reader to do it??
Guest Lojt Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 nope, just use the usbterm program and you can restore your ispm from the new bootmenu. I didn't use the caclearjump.exe method though, so i dont know how it works exactly, but it does enable you to restore even if you cant do it from the bootmenu. btw: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=3963
Guest Speedy Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I am quite anxious about that aswell. Please elaborate on that keystroke. also what are the bugs you are encountering?
Guest Lojt Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 What is it exactly you dont understand? Didn't try the freeze-on-sms-when-keylock-on bug, but i couldn't edit my profiles, so i figured all the bugs where there.
