Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 From the horse's mouth: The SPV's not got enough memory to run SP2003 - this is the big stumbling block, not processor speed as some of us at first thought. Orange are trying to press for SP2003 to be SPV-(backwards)compatible, but with only 70,000 handsets sold they just don't have that kind of leverage with MS. ....so things ain't looking especially hopeful for us SPV-types getting a chance to upgrade to SP2003.

Guest ClintEastman Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 Hasn't the SPV and asus have 16MB RAM and 32MB Flash ROM ?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 The SPV does, just. Not seen the Asus specs' in a while though...

Guest midnight Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 errr, are you sure about this? the asus has the same ram as the spv, i thouhgt it was part of the design specs from microsoft that they all have 16mb ram and 32mb flash
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 From what i heard from neil(?) is that the hardware spec is the same for 2002 and 2003.... And that Orange are testing Ozone builds...... Might be wrong but that's what i heard.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 So what is the spec on the Compal compared to the SPV? I'm pretty sure SP2k3 would be made to run on this, as it's Microsoft's own reference platform! P
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Chris have you been talking to Mr Ed again? :)
