Guest midnight Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Well, not quite, but, here is a pocketpc flash player including source, so should be easy to port if anyone is up to it..... Pocket Spark
Guest madu Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 We ARE close, aren't we?? :) Bring on FLASH!!1
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 The only question then is does Pocket IE support plug-ins? If it doesn't it'll be of limited use for Web surfing (unless you could have Pock Spark and Pocket IE running at the same time and jump between each app depending on the type of content in use... Although even if Pocket IE doesn't support plug-ins perhaps this could also be handy for flash games if it's fast enough?...
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Might be a waste of time if Paul's info is correct..... Then again it might never get released.
Guest midnight Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 errr, the source includes a plugin for PIE, besides, it aint no hassle making downloadable flash to play as standalone on the smartphone, and yes, the spv should be able to handle it, especially as the screen rez is relatively tiny. Director content appears to run at the correct speed if written correctly.
Guest spacemonkey Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I'm not gonna take this one on, but I downloaded the code and had a quick look. It looks like it relies pretty heavily on ATL (Which doesn't exist for smartphone I think) so porting to smartphone would probably require a complete rewrite of the front end... Still good find.
Guest gradiation Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Did i hear someone mention flash? :) Hey if anyone does deside to port it, please, please, PLEASE let me beta test it.
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Which info is that? Paul's info is that "someone" has a build of flash for SPV. It's up and running but "they" havn't released it yet...
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Did i hear someone mention flash? :( Hey if anyone does deside to port it, please, please, PLEASE let me beta test it. I will be up for that (Flash Developer too!!) :)

Guest Matt Whitfield Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Ah ha, that makes sense then Clint. I wonder why they're not releasing it...
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Really, show me some of ur stuff! :( OT Most of my stuff is CRM systems and other fun(?) flash based apps!!! But... www.netsource-solutions.com www.mita.co.uk www.anewbusiness.co.uk www.legseleven.net And so on.....
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 ClintEastman, can you explain how Customer Relationship Management featured in your LegsEleven project?? Who was the "customer"?? And were there any relationships to manage?? ;-)
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 ClintEastman, can you explain how Customer Relationship Management featured in your LegsEleven project?? Who was the "customer"?? Â And were there any relationships to manage?? ;-) Let me tell you matt, all the CRM for that project was strictly manual, face to.... Er.... Face. :) (But our CRM system kicks the ship out of outlook (even with Iris installed)) :(

Havent looked at the code myself yet, but we do have WTL Spacemonkey wont that do it?
Guest gradiation Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Clint, didn't realise u did www.anewbusiness.co.uk , sites aren't too shabby :) Should be some good stuff turning up once the bl**dy thing is released., what with us 2 on the case :(
Guest spacemonkey Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Havent looked at the code myself yet, but we do have WTL Spacemonkey wont that do it? Haven't looked at the WTL thing myself more than a couple of articles, does it actually all work properly on Smartrphone? If so a port from ATL to WTL might be the easiest option.

Apart from it being The National Business Register. :)
Guest spacemonkey Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 So, apparently the first BETA of the Smartphone SDK included ATL but after that it dissappeared. Additionally it is alleged that we may see ATL come back in smartphone 2003. So, a question, for my anyone out there still have a copy of the first BETA of the Smartphone SDK? I'd be really interested in getting hold of the ATL headers and library files from this as it would help a number of porting situations.
Guest gradiation Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 How do you know about www.anewbusiness.co.uk? Apart from it being The National Business Register. :) I was thinking about setting up my own business a while ago, plus my girlfriend is setting up her own business asell. Used that site to check wether our business names were available  and other info.
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 That's my Domain Checker!!!!! I do all the domain regs too...... There's a lot of them!!!!! Also run their database of about 1.5million companies!!! (thank the lord for MySQL!!!)
Guest Arisme Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 btw I wonder what are the legal issues with a GPL Flash player - there are some available, including the swfdec decoding library http://swfdec.sourceforge.net/ because Macromedia license on the SWF file format http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/o...t/license2.html clearly states that Pursuant to the terms and conditions of this License, you are granted a nonexclusive license to use the Specification for the sole purposes of developing Products that output SWF ie, they keep making good $$$ on the players, as far as I understand
