Hi all,

My dads about to upgrade his pay monthly T-Mobile mobile and was asking me what one to upgrade to, or if its worth waiting a bit incase any news ones are around the corner.

He really wants a good reliable and very very easy to use phone. Any suggestions for models, or places where I can get the best upgrade deal ?

Thanks a load

My mum was looking at upgrading her T-mobile when her contract ran out, but they treat new customers better than existing ones, and charge them less for the same phone. Absolutely Abysmal, needless to say, T-Mobile have lost a customer!

I think you are right mate.

I was looking at this new Nokia 6100. Looked nice, and simple.

£50 for a new customer

£130 for an upgrade. We've only been a customer for like 8 years !

Every time I think Orange are annoying I just need to think how much worse T-Mobile are !

Ask for your PAC code, and tell them if they don't better the new customer offers you will take your buisness elsewhere, and if they dont - do exactly that!

Unfortunately, the people in the shop don't seem to care, they say it's 'non-negotiable'. With salespeople and policies like that - who needs competition!!

Two main questions: how much does he USE the phone, and what does he use it to DO? Without those vital bits of information it's like asking "Hey, what's the best Car Ford makes?" While forgetting to mention "... to carry my tools and cement mixer around in."

It's the wrong place to say it, but... why pay for features and services if you don't actually intend to USE them? Answer: mainly because there's not much choice to do otherwise these days!" That's why I'm increasingly interested in the "refurbished" SIM-free market., and the ultra-cheap contracts that they allow you to make use of. Could be that your Dad is a fashion-victim like so many others. But if all he does is TALK, then why pay an arm and a leg for an expensive contract that allows the telco to "subsidize" a phone that's expensive because it's packed full of stuff you're never going to USE? Sadly, my source has just sold out of Siemens SL45's. As-new, they sold for £60, SIM free. Built-in MP3 player, diary, alarm clock, voice recorder. Could handle SMS, WAP and be used as a modem via infra-red. Silent "vibrate" ringer. that's 200% of what most handset owners ever use. Neat looking phone, too. £60 bought it outright - including VAT & delivery. T-Mobile and O2 have some VERY good SIM-only deals: since they're not paying for your handset, the calls are practically free.
