Guest tsl Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I'm told the above file needs to be modified in order to unlock the phone. my file (which hasn't been modified at all) reads: According to various webistes, the orginal file should read: ....and then be modified to...... So what do i do? I'm new to SPV's and don't want to kill the phone within 3 days of buying it. Should I still make the changes to the file, even though my orginal file is different to those most other people have? Help - i want to enjoy my phone like you people do!!!! :x
Guest Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 AFAIK you should be fine just changing the settings to what they need to be for unlocking. I think that my original file was different to the one given in the instructions, although it was a while ago, so I can't be sure. There is the other option of getting http://www.developers.orange.com/workingwith/2003/03/04/Unlocking/>Orange to do it for you! A lot less risky.
Guest Palindrome Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Personally I'd go through Orange as mattkirby suggested. It has the advantage that the phone will be pernamently decerted, even when you do a hard reset.
Guest Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I didn't know that the Orange OTA decert survives a hard reset! Fantastic! :) I have to admit that I've been lucky and haven't needed to hard reset since doing the OTA decert - so I've never had the chance to notice. Of course, I should really be working on that application that I promised Orange I was working on....
