Pictures by email

Can I send pictures taken by the camera by email? I can send text emails ok (using sptp.orange.net) but if I try to attach a picture the phone starts displaying "connecting GPRS" as expected, but then says "unable to place call". There are no problems with text only emails...

Yes, but you'll need to use a 3rd party app, IA Album/SmartExplorer etc...
