Guest Gorskar Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Looks like a useful little feature (see links at top of the forum if you havn't noticed yet), is this going to be expanded to the entire handango catalogue?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 As far as I know it will hopefully be including all non freeware app and games etc. It may not include freeware apps as mono is doing such a great job on his site :)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Yep, all non freeware apps. As mentioned, if you spot something missing or an error, pm me. I think i've got most thinks (links and snails to be added shortly!) P
Guest Gorskar Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 there are some apps (orneta chess springs to mind) which are sold on handango, but are not listed in their catalogue - In the case of orneta chess, I think because it is not yet signed.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 They should still be listed tho (as in the case of the Jimmy Software apps). I'll make sure it's added :) P
Guest nickcornaglia Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Respectfully...Could you please offer another section for freeware apps? I really like the new section for software, but I would really like if this were a one stop shop for ALL of my smartphone needs. Business is business and I understand there is an alliance with Handango. I never have a problem paying for quality software and Handango is usually my first and only choice for buying PPC and Smartphone software. (the 10% discount helps, too!) But keeping true to our common interests, this is first a smartphone "fan" site and should not exclude any facets of the things that make the smartphone a great device and hopefully even better in the near future. There are over 10,000 freeware applications for the PalmOS. Agreed that 9900 of them are totally crap, but the mass of freeware is a major contributing factor to the Palm's success. The PocketPC never really had much freeware, but some of the free-progs are extremely valuable and entertaining. Highlighting the freeware programs on this site could potentially do the same for the Smartphone, and maybe even entice and challenge some programmers to create more. Or at least to offer more free beta's to help them in their development process until the program is ready for market. Mono's sight is great, as are Midnite's and Coolsmartphone, and others....but my preference would be to just come here to get all of my information in a consistent format. Please reconsider as I will try to remember that it is Paul and the moderators who do all of the grunt work on this site and that their collective decision is final! Thanks! Nick
Guest Gorskar Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Monolithix has done an excellent job, I just wish it was better organised hint hint (I do understand that you just wanted to get everything together in one place rather than worry about fancy web design though) I'm something of a tidy-aholic in these cases, so much so that I started to make a list of links myself (if you're interested its here - I didnt finish it, and theres a fair few version numbers and so on that have been superceeded already) Its not much of an improvement, but at least theres an alphabetical order :) (and feel free to steal my *ahem*design mono - I'd much rather see it (or any improvement) on your site) Ok I'll shut up now.
Guest Orneta Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 "]Yep, all non freeware apps. As mentioned, if you spot something missing or an error, pm me. no Orneta applications there? why?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Respectfully...Could you please offer another section for freeware apps? I agree it would be good but... As I posted above, Mono's site is well established so unless he merged with this site somehow I do not think we will have a freeware list here as it would take away the hard work mono has done on his site.

That is definitely much 'user friendly'! Get on it Mono! :(
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Yeah, I don't want to tread on Mono's toes... What do YOU think Mono? :) P
