Guest bit slow Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 right tried to update the spv, going via the uk update to start then using the french to finish.... however when it came to the end it said that it had not worked and to take out the battery for 30 seconds and then re-do the download. so i did as i was told and guess what it buggered up big time!!!! i now have a three coloured screen with the canary spiel... no as i had not put anything in the phone yet. i decided that i would do a hard reset to start from scratch. this was done as per the instruction from my last message on how to.. i got the select 'ispn' or something like that and then delete, which i did. then it said passed which was correct. then it says press the joystick left twice to exit and then power down and then restart.. well i got to the two presses left and then another page says: 0=sim lock / 1=default / 2=set flag / 3=end well i pressed the end and it went straight back to the three canary coulours... help confused sad bugger here at work all depressed. bit slow :? p.s. when explaining how to do it please do it step by step and i'm not too good at this!! thanks in advance
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Remove the battery, wait for a ten-count, and put it back in. Reboot. What screen do you get now?
Guest bit slow Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 cheers for replying!! right when i take out the battery for the ten second count, it comes up 'card found' then it goes to the two options. when i choose the first one, it goes sraight back to the three colours and when i press the second one it goes in to the 'canary diag v0.93' page which lists all the main info bits... when i followed the hard reset instructions found on this site it says to press the number 8 button which is 'erase IPSM' so thats what i did. it then does something for a while then it says 'passed' so then i go back two hits on the joypad and then hit end with the centre button but it immediately reverts back to the three colours? mmmmm buggered!! cheers bit slow!
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Hum. The french update sometimes fails to load completely. In that case, you will not get a normal boot, but always end up with the three colour screen. Erasing IPSM (the hard reset) will not change that, because the issue is with the rest of the OS on the phone not being properly installed. The version number 0.93 of the canary diag also shows the update isn't done. In that case, you need to start the french update all over again. Once this happens with no error messages, you will be able to boot normaly.
