Guest dieter10 Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Hello, I would just like to know whether using the official Orange website to de-certify or unlock the phone will void either the manufacturer's warranty or the Orange Care service agreement. I assume it won't as that would be quite the trap for Orange to set. But I just want to make sure. Cheers.
Guest madu Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 NO. Now go do it!! :) PS: SIM unlock may void warranty, but that's a different thing.

Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 It's a moot point whether SIM-unlocking voids warranty or not. The issue is *very* confusing, and depends very much on local laws in the area which themselves aren't always that clear. Here in Denmark the Consumer Association have approved unlocking as long as the user pays out their contracted x months - fiar do's. But nowhere do the consumer associations make the *laws*, they can just give guidelines. SOnyEricsson have said that they won't honour warranties on phones which have been "unoficially" unlocked - quite how legal this is I don't know, but noone's challenged them yet.... They (Orange) can't tell OTA whether you've unlocked it or not AFAIK, but should you need to take it in for repair they will be able to tell.
