Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 I have finally managed to decertify using the tool to copy the file, but i cannot create new sms's and i also now have 2 of each of the folders in my folder view. I know this has been discussed before but i tried a search and can't find the solution. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks :)
Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Does nobody have an answer for me, i am tearing my hair out i can't send SMS's or MMS's or reply to any i receive (Yes i can receive them). Here is a screenshot of what my folder view looks like, by the way i have tried to delete the cemail.vol file but that did not help!!!!!!! Please anybody...... ThankyouFolders.JPG
Guest Will Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 I think maybe your simples solution is to perform a hard reset.. But don't be too hasty to give up on a fix, if you can bear to wait, see if someone has some ideas over the weekend. Or try 156 Orange Technical Support, as problems like this ARE their job! and let us know how you get on. Sorry for no better news :) Will
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Wow! Never seen that before. there are some files that store the data in outlook. If you delete them, they are rebuilt, empty at the next boot. if your contact data is safe, synced to a PC, you could try deleting those, before you try a hard reset? I'll search for a thread with those files...
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 This is from Hax : I think that your best bet is to simply delete the three database files: mxip_lang.vol mxip_initdb.vol cemail.vol They all live in your IPSM folder but unfortunately can't be simply deleted because they are in use by the system and have been locked against deletion. You need to rename then using using All-Explorer (or I assume smartexplorer but I've not used this!). Once renamed, simply turn your phone off and then back on. Windows will see that these files are missing and will simply create new ones. You can then go and delete the files that you renamed. These are the database file that store all of your contacts and e-mail/sms messages, etc and will be recreated after a power on. I don't think that the registry information such as app unlock is stored in these files - but it's got to be worth a shot before doing a hard-reset! Guest Prits_uk2002 Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 This happened to me what you need to do is hard reset and then decertify again. When you decertify close the active sync window, only leave the copying (Smart phone windows) and the copying source (The folder containing the edited mxip file) window open. Then when the copying folder displays the contents of the smartphone then drop the file from the copying source window into the smartphone windows folder. Try if that helps works for me everytime :)
Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Thanks for all the advice, i will wait until the end of today for anybody elses advice and try everything on Monday morning. I will post the results.. Cheers folks. Richard
Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Ooops sorry, forgot to ask do any of these solutions solve the problem of not being able to send or reply to any sms's/mms's? The main symptom i get is when i press the new button it flashes but nothing happens. Thanks
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Until proven wrong, we'll assume that both symptoms are linked. If we fix your folders and you are still unable to send... we'll keep looking. Certainly, the hard reset should fix all your problems, at least.
Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 OK I have done a Hard reset, and the decert and the 2 sets of folders have now gone (Thank God) but i still cannot send sms's or mms's the New button just blinks and nothing happens?????? Help Richard

Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Thanks for all you're help, i have now solved it. If you use the unlock app to decertify, don't choose loop, it seems to copy the file over and over and i think the phone gets confused and doesn't fully decertify, anyway i deselected loop and it decerted first time with SMS/MMS enabled no duplicated folders or any probs as i can tell. Anyway panic over, i now have to solve the problem with the Axim not receiving IR beams....... Onwards & Upwards.. Richard
Guest Will Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Anyone else finding problems with using the 'loop' feature with the decert app. please PM or post to the main thread. This bug/feature problem has not arised before, but i'd be interested if YOU have problems. Will
Guest Palindrome Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I don't know if this helps but I've got two Inboxes, Outboxes, Sent Items etc. when I choose folder view. I didn't use the decert app but decerted by hammering CTL-V. So far it hasn't caused me any problems so I've ignored it.
