Guest Chris Edwards Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Could someone do me a favour and post a PDL playlist file from Pocket MVP? I just want to know the syntax and everything...
Guest madu Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 the playliste are simple texte files with .PDL extension. They should contain the list of files to play, with full path, and one file by line (but no blanks nor empty lines, except an empty line for the last line). they look like this : [sTART OF SAMPLE:]storage cardmp3my_file01.ogg storage cardmp3my_file02.ogg storage cardmp3my_file03.ogg [END OF SAMPLE] malloc :)
Guest malloc Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I couldn't have said it better myself  malloc
Guest Chris Edwards Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Thanks! I guess I didn't search hard enough :)
Guest malloc Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Thanks! I guess I didn't http://smartphone.modaco.com/search.php>Search hard enough :( Don't worry, the quote on madu's post was from a PM I sent him, there's no way you could have find the info by a search  This was in fact a good question, because, I don't know if I already explained the format in a post... now it's done :) malloc
Guest dyey Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 exactly what do you type inside the [] at the start and end of the file? i tried making one but the player says "this file is of an unknown format" :? can anyone post a snippet of their actual playlist files? thanks :)
Guest Chris Edwards Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Nothing goes there... Here's a sample of my playlist file: storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 1 - Life on a Chain.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 2 - Strange Condition.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 3 - Just Another.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 4 - Black.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 5 - Lose You.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 6 - For Nancy (Cos' It Already Is).ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 7 - Murray.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 8 - June.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 9 - Sense.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 10 - Closet.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 11 - On Your Side.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 12 - Sleep Better.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 13 - EZ.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 14 - Simonize.ogg storage cardspvmusicPete Yorn - 15 - Girl Like You [].ogg Remember to put the extra empty line at the end of the file.
Guest dyey Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 thanks. finally got the damn thing working :) is notepad the only way you can make these .pdl playlists or are there programs which automatically do this?
Guest Chris Edwards Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 I just created a playlist in Winamp and then just took out the extra stuff that winamp put in there to make it look like this.... I also added storage card in front of everything... So yeah, notepad is probably the best way right now :)
Guest schriss Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Use SmartMP3 8) http://www.fatattitude.com/software/smartmp3.asp
Guest FrankyG Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 Can anyone spot whats wrong with my PDL playlist? Here are the last few lines. Storage_CardMusicMichel_ThomasMichel_Thomas_-_French_CD_8_-_Track_09.mp3 Storage_CardMusicMichel_ThomasMichel_Thomas_-_French_CD_8_-_Track_10.mp3 Storage_CardMusicMichel_ThomasMichel_Thomas_-_French_CD_8_-_Track_11.mp3 Storage_CardMusicMichel_ThomasMichel_Thomas_-_French_CD_8_-_Track_12.mp3 There is a blank line at the end of the list. There are no underscores in the actual filenames, but it was mentioned above that there should be no spaces. I'm getting an error, 'this file is of an unknown format' when trying to open it. Any suggestions? FrankyG ps SmartMP3 doesn't work for me. Won't install properly.
Guest malloc Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 You can use spaces, and you have to use them for "Storage Card". malloc
Guest FrankyG Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 Just tried removing the leading , still didn't work. Then changed the underscores back to spaces and still not working. Then added "" to each line eg "Storage cardMusicMichel ThomasMichel Thomas - French CD 7 - Track 08.mp3" that did not work either. When I get the error message, the heading of the screen is 'Video Error' - is this significant? Does PocketMVP see PDL files as 'video' files? I tend to think that some file associations are mixed up. I've added further information under a new thread in the main forum, hoping for more feedback! Maybe I'll delete this thread if I get some response on the main forum... Thanks for your reply, FrankyG
Guest gixer599 Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003  Help me somebody, I'm new 2 all this spv stuff. I just want a playlist for my pocket MVP so I can listen to music without having to select files one at a time. Its tricky doing that whilst riding a bike and eating a sandwich u know!
Guest FrankyG Posted July 16, 2003 Report Posted July 16, 2003 Its tricky doing that whilst riding a bike and eating a sandwich u know! Hmmm, you must have a custom helmet or tiny fingers to shove a sandwich into your mouth :) The playlist thingy isn't difficult in principle...damned if I can get it to work with PocketMVP! Basically, create a playlist using whatever software you use, Winamp and Playlist Creator were mentioned above. Then edit the playlist file to strip out everything except the paths to the tracks. Add a blank line at the end of the file and save as PDL file. Copy to phone and voila... sounds simple, and seems to work for most people but not me. Still can't get it to work. As I type, I'm converting all tracks on my SD card to WMA, at least I can use a playlist that works that way. HTH FrankyG
Guest FrankyG Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 thanks. finally got the damn thing working :) HOW :?: No matter what I try I keep getting the unknown format error :!: This is a typical line in my PDL file; Storage cardMusicFrenchMichel Thomas - French CD 1 - Track 01.mp3 Did you have to remove the spaces to get it to work? Did you use Notepad to create your PDL (not that it should matter, but trying to narrow this down)? Did you use a relative path or full paths (my example above is a full path)? Any tips on how you got yours working gratefully received! FrankyG
Guest dr_chikito Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 i was able to make the playlist and view them in pocketMVP. but the problem is, i can't skip to any of the tracks in the playlist. when i load the playlist (since shuffle is activated), it randomly selects an mp3 then stops after the song..no continuity to the next track... how come?
Guest dr_chikito Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 bump need your help guys... thanks
Guest varon Posted December 12, 2003 Report Posted December 12, 2003 I am new to PocketMVP and have a question. I put in a playlist and it workks fine. However, the 'playlist editor' and 'jump to' are greyed out and can't be accessed. How do I activate these options. Do I have to install some type of playlist editor with MVP? and what's the deal with the 'jump to' feature? Thanks for the help
