Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 OK lads and ladies. This is as far as I've got with MS portrait. Hope you lot can use it if you get stuck: Download it here: http://research.microsoft.com/~jiangli/portrait/ Update: There's a new version of MSP for Smartphone available from the above link - same version number (2.1) but the SP code is new. Thanks to Arne Hess at www.ppcw.net for this info. Installation: The Installer *doesn't* install Portrait to your SPV - you need to use the manual method; navigate to your PC's Program FilesMicrosoft ActiveSyncMicrosoft Portrait directory. Right-click and copy the portraitSP.ARM.CAB file. Paste this file to your SPVs IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccesories folder, then launch it from there. It'll install as normal. Usage (what I've discovered so far): I can make a call from my SPV to my PC (use www.myip.dk if you don't know what your PC's IP is) I can call my SPV from my PC *after* I've done the above. Orange's GPRS server also acts as a proxy which conceals you SPV's real IP #. MS Portrait can be configured to use a proxy too, it's just a matter of getting which IP address your proxy has and which port # MS portrait is using. Port numbers for MSP: Listen port: 8100 Video port: 8110 Audio port: 8120 These ports will *need* to be open in your PC's firewall, and they will also need to be open for anyone you contact - make it so. Do the same for your SPV's proxy server - that address is also available by visiting www.myip.dk from you SPV. Remember to use your GPRS connection :) I can see my PC's webcam on my SPV I can hear both ways - PC on SPV and vice versa. What I can't do: See pics from the SPV's camera on my PC - there doesn't even seem to be an option to use the cam. on the "Tools" menu. Maybe in a later release. What I haven't tried: SPV to SPV messaging - anyone wants to give it a try throw a PM my way. So there's a bit of info for you lot to munch on - anyone have any ideas or updates, send me a PM.
Guest terminater2_uk Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Have managed to connect spv to spv but sending text in chat mode doesnt work. Was just like having a phonecall with speakerphone on both phones.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 OK. If you find a workaround, PM me and I'll add it to the main post.
Guest mariolouis Posted December 2, 2003 Report Posted December 2, 2003 maybe we could make use of one of these.. http://pc-mobile.net/spvcl1.jpg http://pc-mobile.net/spv.htm
