Guest yatpeak Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Hi, Could someone tell me what WCDMA is? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Wideband Code Division Multiple Access. A new, higher bandwidth version of good old CDMA. GSM is TDMA, i.e. Time Division Multiple Access, in that it shares radio ressources (frequency slots) by assigning individual time slots to the various handsets in a cell. 3G or UMTS is WCDMA, in that the radio ressources are shared by applying spread-spectrum techniques based on pseudo-random codes (just like in GPS!), with one code per handset in a cell. There, more information than you could ever want on WCDMA
