Guest cybercamel Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 OK, when I go over the 160 characters, the person I'm sending the text to doesn't get anything, just a blank text. I know this is a problem and has been discussed before, but I couldn't find out if there is a fix, or if it still happens to other people, or whether I'm doing anything wrong? It's very frustrating, help!!!!
Guest madu Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 What phone does (s)he have? Or is it all your mates that get blanks if over 160?
Guest caio1 Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Strange, none of my friends never complained about that. Are you sure you have the latest spv update available here? http://www.orange.com/english/forwardthink...ate2.asp?bhcp=1 Caio
Guest cybercamel Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I've got that particular update. I haven't got the one with the keyboard drivers!! Certainly it's happened to two people that I've sent texts too! Admittedly one's got an oldish Nokia, but the other one is new Samsung, an A300 I think.
Guest eyup Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 if its an A300 the problem is with that. i used to have one and they dont take linked messages (ie 160+) from any phone. apparently the code used to link messages was invented by nokia and samsungs dont support it!
Guest cybercamel Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Ah!!!! That might be it, an old Nokia and a Samsung A300. They are the 2 phones I text the most! I think I'm going to have get myself a character counter, thanks for all your help.
Guest caio1 Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 cybercamel: use Orneta Notepad which has char counter and is able to send sms. Caio
Guest cybercamel Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 I've got Notbad, perhaps I'll give Orneta a go, thanks.
Guest caio1 Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Use the latest versione available v1.17 http://www.orneta.com/notepad4smartphone/ Caio
Guest cybercamel Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Just downloaded it straight to my phone, fantastic! Just one further question, with Notbad, is it just a matter of deleting it via active synch or do I have to go through a proper uninstall process?
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 you should always use the proper uninstall process when you can, as this helps keep the registry nice and tidy.
Guest cybercamel Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Err!!!! Sorry, got a little ahead of myself and deleted it via Active Synch. I did look for an uninstall process but couldn't find one  Do I need to do anything else?
