Guest leftofcentre Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Hi folks I am going to paris for a few days and I was wondering what I need to keep my SPV working. Is the two prong plug that comes with the SPV (the one that hide under the uk 3 prong cover) all you you need to charge your phone from a french electrical socket, or do I need another adaptor? Can I use the internet/email feauture in paris? I imagine with France Telecom owning orange this would be easy enough, but... If I can connect is there any network I should aim to be on, any idea of costs (is it still per data or per minute)? And do I have to reconfigure anything on the SPV to get it to work? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Brian
Guest Matt Kirby Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Welcome to MoDaCo! The two prong plug that comes with the SPV is the Euro adaptor, thats all you need to charge up your SPV in Europe. As for networks / prices and services availible in France, call Orange and ask them! :) Make sure that roaming is set up on your phone, and they will be able to tell you which serivces are availible in France and which network is cheapest. For Internet useage to be charged by data rather than per minute the roaming network needs to give you GPRS access (not all roaming networks do). One thing to note- when you get to France your phone will automaticaly sign on to a network, you may need to force it to sign on to the network that you want. To do this go to "Settings Telephony More... Networks" and change "Network Selection" from "Automatic" to "Manual" and then select the network that you need. Have a good trip!
Guest ajb3000 Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 yes the two pin plug will work to charge your phone. your phone is set up to automaticaly select orange france if available, this is the only french network that will allow you to use GPRS, and they will charge you £10 per MB, you do not need to change any settings.

Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Lastly... (and most importantly!) There's a restaurant in the Rue Mouffetard called "Huitre et dimi". WELL worth a visit. - on the left hand side going up the hill, just before the brow of the hill. Seriously good food, low prices., few tourists.
