Guest Venus Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Ok so I want a thing on my smartphone that when someone calls it comes up with their pic ! I tried one the other day and it was cool but it expires in 15 days and being a skank I dont want to pay for another one. So what I wanna know is if there is a free version I can download ?
Guest malloc Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 You might want to have a look at SmartFace from Ceb : Monolithix Spv free software page This is a free beta working very, very well :) malloc
Guest Venus Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Hi mate, Ta for the reply, I did have a look at that one but the instructions seemed so complicated ! I was more worried about doing the phone in by messing about. Also stuff that is iin winzip format I am not sure how you get it on the phone, do you unzip and then put the whole lot on or put the zipped file on ?
Guest tbrose Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 The instructions for SmartFace are actually quite simple: 1) Unzip the file from the .zip-file to your computer 2) Place the file in the "IPSMWindowsStartUp"-folder on your SPV. 3) Make a folder on your Storage Card called "pict" 4) put the pictures of the people you want to see in the above mentioned folder, naming them after their telephonenumber (I live in Denmark, so I name my pictures +45xxxxxx.jpg - with the x's being the rest of the phonenumber)... If you have two numbers for one caller, you can just copy the picture and write the two different numbers.... 5) Restart your phone, and now it should work! If you have any problems, do a search for SmartFace..... Hope this helps!
Guest Venus Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 OK Cool ta for that. One more thing, when I d/l the file onto the pc initially it creates it as a ZIP file. Do I need to Unzip first with winzip (if so how and where do I put the files on the phone) or shove the zipped file onto the phone (and where ?) sorry to sound so fick !
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 as tbrose stated, you just unzip the files on your PC and put them on your phone (in the locations he specified) via Active Sync Explore...
Guest IA Style Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 IA Style has just released IA Caller ID Beta-4, V0.99 (Build: 12565) and it should give you a fresh 15 days trial period. There may be more Beta coming which can reset the expiration count. You can download it at: http://www.iastyle.com/iacallerid/download.asp To install IA Caller ID, simply download the file from the web, setup ActiveSync and install the EXE file like other standard Smartphone applications do. To setup a caller ID photo, simply find the contact entry and press Assign Photo button to start a two steps Assign Photo wizard. Photos of various sizes, formats (JPEG/BMP/GIF), still or animated GIF files can be used for photo assignment.
Guest dinoalbert Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Sorry to butt in but isnt it that the latest Smartface (ver.4?) is in .cab fomat and there's no need to unzip it first? I just want to make sure if I downloaded the right version because I have the cab file and I just placed it in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories and opened and installed it from there (Progams-->Accessories).
Guest Venus Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Cheers everyone, now my next problem is getting the photos to a smaller size for the screen.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 If you're running WinXP try the Image resizer powertoy: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whi...wertoySetup.exe Right click an image and select or enter a custom size in pixels...
