Guest RMWD Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 If I have a UK updated SPV. Can I use USBterm to backup my SPV to an SD card? Can I then use USBTerm to restore say the IPSM after if I had a fault requiring a hard reboot?
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Yes. You can also use it to restore the bootloader, which will then allow you to do all this without a PC.

Guest RMWD Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Providing you backedup your old Bootloader that is :) The reason I ask is that I did a full backup to 32mg SD card, ran the update and then tried to reinstall the bootlader with USBTErm. Crashed my SPV and I had to reload the preupdate backup completely. Now I have a pre update machine which works quite well but when I tried to do a full backup again I got a "FAILED" error instead otf the usual passed. So I have no backup now as before backing up the card gets formatted. My main need is to be able to back up the ipsm/wince and if USBTERM does this perhaps I'll just use this instead. Does anyone know how to format the SD card again for general use as it is useless to the SPV now and can't be seen by camera. Thanks
Guest Richie M Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Yep USBTerm will back-up the ISPM/WINCE, the "qfs ?" command gives you all the available options ;) If you just insert an Unformatted Card, the SPV will ask if you want to format it :D (failing that Task Manager (you need to De-Cert) will format a SD/MMC card :)

Where can i get the previous verison of Bootloader? I am curently using 0.98 ..(i think !) I am currently backing up my IPSM using "qfs 8 : save the IPSM" How do i install my IPSM now (just to see if its actualy working...) Do i need to boot again the phone and press "Any key to start Bootloader" ?

Is it done ? The backup i mean !
Guest Richie M Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Yeah it should be, waiting for check doesnt always finish properly ;) With the Card in, hold Power & Record, when Screen changes QUICKLY hold Action, it should say Downloading IPSM, after a while (10 - 15 mins) press left or right, if the screen changes it's finished :)

Guest Richie M Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Think its just after, if it u dont get it 1st time just keep trying :)
Guest geovass Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I have done it ! I am now on a menu with 7 LOAD IPSM commands and 1 ERASE IPSM. I am selecting to LOAD IPSM and it doesnt do anything.... :) I have tryed ALL 7 command lines with LOAD IPSM and nothing... What is happening ? :x
Guest Richie M Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Ok, don't panic 8) You either didn't press & hold Action quick enough or the Back-up didn't work. Either try again or you can load up USBTerm as before but use the Card -> ISPM option to test your Back-up.
Guest geovass Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 It's late now... :) Will try that tomorrow ! Thanx my friend !
