Guest micropathic Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Hello all, I am new to this board but have found it to be a great help at times. Keep up the good work! Anyhow, what I am posting this message about is the "Files" function in activesync that is currently disabled for us smartphone users (Please see my screenshot attached). In essence what I want to be able to do is to have that optional checkbox show up next to the "Files" icon. I figure it's the next step I have to take to countinue my little "prodject". Please feel free to post anything at all... (ie; feedback, Your ideas on it, What I need to to make this project happen/not happen )ActivSyncSS copy.jpg
Guest flashfodder Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 When I do tools/options in Active sync, I don't see either Note or Files. how do you get them to appear?
Guest micropathic Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Its all done through: regedit.exe This link has some good tips on what I'm trying to: http://www.cewindows.net/applications/undo...dactivesync.htm I got them to show up there just by changing a couple reg keys and strings. I had just found myself inside the registry and started to recall hearing about the fact that some options were not available in activesync(Well when running smartphone, andyhow...) I'm looking to put back whatever possible and to that end, I want to see if we (developers, end users, whoever, everybody) can find anything useful in what has been disabled and then take it from there. To me it looks like they have some stools stashed away that could be useful for a guy like me, and if not , well at least I can say I tried... But really though, if we could harness even some of that code for our (smartphone) purposes I thin it could make a really nice addition to the features ActiveSync and SmartPhone 2002 already have! -Marcus
Guest Soyale Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 I think this functionality is disabled on the Smartphone. ActiveSync providers (like those for notes and files) need to have registry settings and a DLL on both sides. On your dekstop the DLL will be there because it can support Pocket PC however I suspect the device side one is missing. ActiveSync is picking this up and hence why you don't see the check box. Guest kingbing Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 Yeah, I think we're stuffed with this one. I've fiddled with the registry to add Favorites to the list, but it doesn't sync anything, and always fails...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 On your Orange CD there's a wizard to set up dialup/exchange/vpn/etc accounts . If you run this and skip past the account setup, one of the last options is which favourites to sync up. This DOES work, i've tested it and had my "links" folder synced to my phone. Unfortunately it doesn't solve the Notes problem but i know some people were disapointed at the lack of favourites sync.
