Guest kingdom master Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 We now have snake 2 with score listing would be possible to have more games to do the same with like racing etc.. perhaps even gprs gaming? k
Guest midnight Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 i think what would be a good idea is for one site that has the high scores to all games that are developed by developers on the modaco forum, that way we know where to look, and who knows, maybe even have competitions etc. as for gprs gaming, its highly possible, worms world party is supposed to support this feature.
Guest Gorskar Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Which reminds me: what on earth happened to worms world party anyway? It was announced when the phone was released, but still no sign of it.
Guest Eran Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 The game 'Lands of Shadowgate' might be a good answer to your question - http://www.landsofshadowgate.com Regards Eran
Guest kingdom master Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 My idea would be to set up a gaming network for the spv, featuring certain games- have a set up screen enabling u to access all games. via web and wap. password accessed via a site. The site will allow developers to upload games at anytime continually updating the service...high scores will be logged just like on snake2. perhaps even having leagues that work out as scores build up. gprs games like reverse would be good or battleships. if somoene will develop this ill host the entire project. but i dont have the skills to develop such a project. anyone interested? just a thought.....gta team play? kingdom
Guest amo Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 kingdom master > great concept but i think unless all of us implement a 100mbit lan connection on our phones, i doubt a lot of the ideas you suggested could be done on such a scale
Guest midnight Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 a high score site would be cool, but you'd have to talk to all developers who are currently deveoping games so they send the scores to that site which then logs the scores in a mysql database. (two versions of the site aswell, one for pc access, one for smartphone). i'd help out with a site like this. from this site you could host the games so that people could download them etc., but as for gprs gaming, dunno, could be tricky, worms is ideal cos its turn based, but for action games there could be problems, may work tho, who knows, some games work on 56k modems without lag problems, others dont.
Guest Carsten Schack-Eriksen Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Hi The highscore site for Snake 2 is versy simple. It is placed on my webserver W2K Pro IIS, and an Access mdb database contains the scores. There are an ASP page for showing the list, can also be viewed from the phone. The score, name, game name and game version are send on a socket on my machine, where i have a server program looking for connections. When the phone connects, the server program inserts the parameters in the Highscore table and then returns your rank and the highscore liste top 20. So if somebody wants to use my highscore server then contact me for more information. /Carsten
Guest Sim Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I'd be very interested in seeing some form of gaming portal developed with the emphasis on MP/high scores/rankings etc. I could help with development if a team was formed for this task. WebDev is my life
Guest midnight Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 not the only one m8, i can design the frontend (basic html/css/images) which someone can then work the php or whatever into, then just need the back end stuff, of course, also need a site to host from, paul, what about modaco? unless someone wants to reg and maintain a new site
