Guest The PocketTV Team Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 The question is: 1) When you change the volume in an application (e.g. game, video player etc), should it change the phone's earpiece volume when you use the phone ? 2) Or should the earpiece volume setting of the phone (i.e. when on the phone) be unaffected, and only changeable when on the Home screen ? Personally I would vastly prefer choice 2), but that's not what the Smartphone does. When you change the audio volume in an application, it affects the earpiece volume setting of the phone - that is, unless the application takes special care of restoring the volume setting when it becomes inactive. IMHO the earpiece volume (used when on a phone call) should be only changeable when on the Home screen, and changing the volume when using other applications (e.g. listeming to music with MWP) should not affect the earpiece volume (used when on a phone call). Do you agree with me ? Now, regarding implementation issues, this should not be a real problem. It could be done at the OS level (e.g. by associating audio level to each application) or by making sure that the Home screen remembers the audio level and restores it each time a call is made or receive. In the mean time, I think we'll change PocketTV so that it remembers the current audio volume when it becomes active, and restores it when it becomes inactive. Do you think it's a good idea ?
