can we get an auto-link too ?

When you type PocketMVP in a post, this forum creates automatically a link to the PocketMVP thread. That's nice...

Of course if you add a star, i.e. Pocket*MVP, then you make another auto-link with MVP :-) this times to the MS website.

But can you generalize this to other Smartphone applications ?

e.g. PocketTV would become PocketTV automatically ? or at least point to the most recent PocketTV thread on Modaco ?

I don't think we should link off-site. That is the whole point that people will be directed to a topic and READ about stuff before downloading and then coming back with a new topic on a question answered already etc...

But if you feel otherwise...

however, there is now a small problem: if you want to use bbcode to explicitely specify a URL for one of those auto-links, then it breaks something...

For example, when I try PocketTV,

here is what I see in the post:

Can you prevent auto-links when the link is enclosed by bbcode ?

jeez, I don't know what you did, but it seems to have seriously broken the first post in our thread:

DOH! Pocket TV will work for now as a link (with space before TV) untill Paul fixes shortcut problem :)

I will look at setting up the forum to ignore words in IMGs, URLs etc, but this is a substantial change, and so will have to wait till I have a bit of time :)
