Guest frankwilliams Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 I have used an orange.net email for 3 odd years now I am amazed that so few people on this site complain about the occasional (but terrible) service outages they suffer for people trying to gain access to their email from their website. Error 500--Internal Server Error Am I the only one?
Guest mike-oh Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Amongst other things yeah. I know they've been updating things recently so that might have something to do with it.I went on yesterday and i got an appaling interface with purple writing and a grey background.A bit of messing around and i got a more respectable one. One thing i can't ever do is check my remaining minutes and orange have done squat about it!
Guest Deemon Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 ive had an orange.net email addy for over a year and never had it not connect....just lucky i guess
Guest Rob.P Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 It's happened to me a few times, not enough to p!ss me off though. To be expected really, what does work properly today?
Guest frankwilliams Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 you are the lucky one then! pop3 with them has always been fine but it doesn't give you option to keep a copy on server so I don't much. Can you get access it via their web interface right now though? I was trying to check some e-ticket information for some flights I booked earlier this year and had sent to my email! Any recommendations for a premium email service anyone?
Guest frankwilliams Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 what does work properly today? me! :)
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Any recommendations for a premium email service anyone? softhome.net My ISP went tits up at 4 hours notice, taking my email address with it. I vowed that NEVER again would I run my email account from my ISP. (I'd already jacked in Freeserve when they decided that "unlimited" meant something else entirely, and had the hassle of changing email address.) I hunted around for a free POP3 service, and found softhome. I've changed ISP three times since then... and kept the same email address. Their online help is excellent, as is the way they give you the option to use Port 25000 rather than port 25. (Some ISPs try to block you using SMTP addresses other than their own. This is a good workaround - they're filtering port 25, so you don't use it!) Option of "webmail" or POP3. Unlimited accounts. One point though - it's funded by them selling lists of email addresses. When you sign up, there's a questionnaire to fill out about your "lifestyle". Telling fibs at that point is SMART. Tell 'em you're 93 and a housebound bankrupt. Reduces the amount of Spam considerably - who bothers to mailshot 93 year olds?!
Guest RS Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Only had 1 problem accessing orange.net and email, other than that all has been fine. The email even works when I access it from my SPV.
Guest Rob.P Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 me! :( :D Your doing better than me then, I don't think I've worked properly since I left the factory :)
Guest James Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 never had a problem with orange in over three years
