Guest siu99spj Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Just thought I'd see what people are listening to. Specify make brand if you can. Currently I'm on a pair of Sony cordless headphones, but thats only until my Logitech Z-640's get here! Edit:- Just got my Z-640's last. God damn they have sweet sound!!! (Well, much sweeter than my old things) The thumping bass is great (With enough volume that is or else your sounds go nasty), but I wonder how long it'll be before my landlord gets pissed off!!! Watching the matrix last night in Dolby Digital Surround (Well, what else can I put my SB Live to other than decoding?). Sswwweeeettttt!!!!!)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Cheapy Woolworths headphones for work. A pair of Panasonic 200W speakers running off a Cambridge A5i amp at home, "loud" PC speakers for rears if i want to immerse myself more when watching a film/playing bf1942. :)
Guest b1uepower Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 a sony 3 disk cd changer... i just run my pc through that and also i have Philips wireless headphones. :)
Guest Palindrome Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 5300. I was using an amp and rubbish speakers that I nicked from my parents in 1986 before.
Guest Shuflie Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Yamaha TSS-1 5.1 desktop surround connected to ABit Nforce2 MCP-T using optical cable. Dolby digital encoding for all sound from the motherboard except for DVDs with DTS soundtracks which I pass through directly to the Yamaha amp.
Guest madu Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Logitech woofer & speakers (2). Was gonna get 4 but only bought a decent soundcard after I got the speakers and realised they were worthless without one. Duh!
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 Videologic ZXR 500 (5.1) Speakers running through Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Player. Cheap yet pretty good surround sound solution for broke students. I swap to Microsoft Sindwinder GameVoice headphones at night to avoid disturbing my housemates.
Guest siu99spj Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Well, I used to use my headphones for FPS shooters for the simple reason they had a MUCH better response (Down to 35Hz effectively) but this weekend I'm gonna have to try my Z-640's out. Hope my landlords out!
Guest Brody Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Videologic ZXR 500 5.1 dolby dts kit with an a-bit sound card for me, sounds pretty good, especially in my small uni room!! Ps. Snap Mr_Protozoa
Guest Vector Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 I got the same as Madu, but i got only 2 speakers not 4 because i have no money ! :( The woofer is great tho, espacially if you get a bit hot and need cooling down :)

Money...don't get me started.. and the woofer is great!! i like it a lot, while the speakers are fairly good in balancing it out with higher freq's and a little play with Creative mixer to fine tune it.. Lovely! :D
Guest jim80b Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 i got on-board sound ( :) ) going to 120w per ch 6ch in amp, with 125w 15in fronts, 60w mission center, 60w jpw rears. no sub but fronts go to 20hz so only really need one for the star destroyer scene in star wars where its not quite right unless the sofa is shaking  got me a geforce with tv out so i watch divx's on a 28in sony    my neighbours must hate me
Guest SeeJ Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 My PC sound goes through a 750watt PA to two 300watt PA speakers with 15" woofers. I have on-board sound for gaming and a Delta1010LT for music production. The sound is combined through a mixing desk so I don't have to swap wires around. Sounds Fantastic!! :)
Guest pisquee Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Audio from PC produced by C-Media 8338 based card, SPDIF output from that into Sony MDS-JE640 (MiniDisc) acting as DA convertor, then from that through Pioneer A107 amp, into two Eltax 3 way floor standers. (The SPDIF out from the MiniDisc is then taken back to the input of the soundcard) So my hi-fi/video seperates system is intergated with my PC. (TV out from G-Force to VCR)
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I'm actually using a Cambridge Audio 3.1 setup...but no option to vote for that...
