Australian roaches acquire pet status + SPV Pets

Do you reckon pet roaches will ever take off in the UK ????

Hey just realised no one has made a SPV Pet App yet. What was it called ? Tamagochee/Tamagotchi or something like that. Well as long as he/she/it couldn't access my phone book or make prank calls I suppose I could have a little space for him on my SPV

Wouldn't that be scary if SPV Pets could talk to each other via SMS  Maybe the Cyberpets are to blame for the situation we have in T3 :)

Australians looking for a little creature company in their urban homes are shunning the dog and cat in favour of a more economical pet - the cockroach. Workers in Australia's pet industry say the demand for insects as pets has risen in the past five years because of more cramped urban living conditions. Cockroaches are particular favourites, especially as the largest of the species is native to Australia.

Where did you sell these?!

Did you work in a pet shop, or did you sell them out of the back of a van? lol.

I'd like a SPV pet. Could you have pets communucate via GPRS/IR? Pets havin fights / making love could be fun!

A 3" roach - now that would be interesting !!

Care to elaborate on what else you sold. I am very curious

Yeah I really want an SPV pet (and the idea of a roach is growing on me a bit as well!). Wonder if anyone knows enough about Artificial Intelligence to create one ?

I just had an idea....

You could define your pets attributes, then you mate it with a friends and produce offspring based on the parents attributes.

It could end up being like the creatures game. That could be cool.

But who would keep the kids if two pets mated and had kids :)

And okay when I sync with my PC does my Pet move onto my PC. If he could destroy that silly MS helper I would have no issues

But seriously this could be quite fun. I'll check out the link in a bit.

I did a project at uni on an Artificial Ecology based on Genetic Algorithms and its very cool stuff, and I can recommend books if anyone can do the coding. It was the usual predator-prey stuff where the survivors of the current generation determined the characteristics of the next. But same idea as the creatures game I assume.

So what attributes would you want a SPV Pet to have ?

You could trade in your parent for a child or give it to somebody as a gift.

You creatures could 'level up' the longer you had them and become more powerfull.

Does anybody remember the monkey pet that was on the old Palm OS?

I'd call my pet Sam Fisher,

:)

Matt - I keep feeding the Tama guy but he's still hungry !!!

But yeah it could be a good start for the Smartphone version. I am getting bored with serious applications.

SPV Nokia Pet wars :(

As well as mating with other SPV Pets maybe the action on your phone could change the attributes. ie sms messages you receive have a certain effect, phone calls, low battery, sync'ing, etc.

And I think you should be able to have a few pets on a phone, and you could have really random looks.

Sold privately and thru a petshop, hmm other stuff.

Beetles? (including a goliath rhino beetle, about 4" long, and able to snap a pencil in half?)

All kinds of spiders, stick insects, mantis', then we move onto amphibians, reptiles, birds, small mammals (had some of the original 'Shaws Jirds')

Erm so basically you want something that's gunna freak the neighbours, I used to sell it!!

And on the theory of pets on phones, you could mms him to other people for the day!!!
