To make mine work, I had to rename the IPSM/My Documents/Photo Contacts to IPSM/My Documents/Photo Contacts Demo. You can do this in Photo Contacts/Menu/Options/Photo Location:

Try it!

Yeah m8 - I kinda saw that on mine eventually - but it still didn't work for me! I figured out in the end that as I had installed the app to my storage card, I should put the pics in there - which worked for 1 pic!! The rest came up with a 'demo' pic - so I'm guessing at this stage that the demo version only shows 1 pic?! Or does yours show all the pics in your folder??

If it worked properly I think this app would blow smartface/callface out of the water. I dunno about IA caller coz I never used it - being a poor student atm with no credit cards makes it kinda hard to buy stuff online!

Just got this demo installed and running. The Photo Contacts thumbnail display function is running fine, but can't get the photo caller ID function working, even the Options screen has the "Enable Photo Caller ID" option checked.

IA Caller ID still working well for showing the Photo caller ID functions. To test Photo Contacts, I unchecked the "Display photo during incoming or waiting call" option in IA Caller ID. But the Photo Contacts' photo caller id function still not working! Anyone had the Photo Contacts' photo caller id function working?

The demo version only works for the first 12 contacts on your list. Try to put photos for the first 12. I also got that "DEMO" icon when I put photos beyond the first 12.

I got the caller ID function working with Photo Contacts. But I don't have any other CallerID/photo app on my phone.

I use my jpegs from my laptop for Photo Contacts. These have been taken with my 3 megapixel digital still camera. I resize them using "Microsoft Photo Editor".

Question: Considering both file size and quality, what size/dimensions (l x w) would be best for photos in Photo Contacts? What is the average file size for photos to use?

:) Hello Everyone!

My name is Bojan. I am one of the developers of Photo Contacts. I will try to answer your questions as well as give you some tips on how to use the program.

1. The demo version will only display the first 12 pictures of the first 12 contacts (sorted alphabetically - depending on the sort option) on the phone. If you have more than 12 photos, those pictures will have the "DEMO" picture instead of the real picture as a thumbnail.

2. Pictures need to be named in the following order:

[sPACE].jpg

So if the name of the person is "Samantha Fox", then the name of the picture should be

samantha fox.jpg
.

Of course, you have to have the contact listed in Outlook or the picture will not show up at all.

3. The recommended picture (or mug-shot) size is 100x100 pixels. This ensures that the files are not too big, and at the same time they look good on the phone and in PhotoCallerID. The average size of a 100x100 JPG is around 3-4KB.

4. If you have IA Caller ID installed, you should disable it and reboot the phone (to make sure it is not still resident in memory). The two applications will otherwise conflict.

5. We recommend putting the photos on the Storage card as the Smartphone's internal memory seems to have some bugs when files are moved and renamed. Also, the memory cards are faster to display photos.

The default storage card directory is:

Storage CardMy DocumentsPhoto Contacts

After adding the photos to the storage card, go to Options in Photo Contacts and change the photo location option to Strage Card.

The program will work fine even if the pictures are stored on the phone, but it might require a reboot(off-on) after you put the pictures in.

6. Please make sure you're not adding a double ".jpg" extension to your photo files in Windows. In Windows Explorer, click on Tools/Folder Options/View and make sure that the "Hide extensions for known file types" is NOT checked.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have any other questions or comments, I will be glad to answer them.

Does that mean that a photo will only be displayed for the first 12 contacts in the list? The pics I added were for contacts at random places in my list i.e. the 12 pics I added were not for the first 12 names in my list. Is that whats wrong with mine??

EDIT - also, my contacts list defaults to - Surname, first name - does the comma need to be included in the file name?

Hi Drblow,

Yes the DEMO version is limited in this way.

The demo will only show photos for the first 12 contacts in Outlook. So if the 13th contact actually has a picture, you will see the DEMO image instead of the "Picture not found" image.

Please keep in mind that you can actually sort contacts in 3 ways in photo contacts : By Last Name, By First Name and By FileAs. So with these 3 combinations, you can actually display different contacts' photos even if the limitation is 12 first contacts.

The program will actually load all the contacts that you have on the phone, it is only that the pictures will not show up and PhotoCallerID will not work for those pictures. Otherwise, the DEMO is fully functional.

Naming the files with a comma will not work. The delimiter is a space, and it separates the first name from the last name.

So, if your name is "John Deere" then the picture file must be named

"John Deere.jpg".

That follows the "[sPACE].jpg" directive.

If you name it "John,Deere.jpg" or "Deere,John.jpg", then the picture will not show up.

Hi,

Today I tried your software, the photo contacts. But when I uninstall it, it mess up my phone. The name of contacts in sim card display as weird characters. The phone "antenna" symbol cannot detect the networks...
