Guest ponxman Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 hi there guys! i was just wondering if this happens to ur SAP. when i load my ringtone (.wav or midi) as instructed in the manual (ipsm/mydoc/my sounds folder) my sap cant find the ringtone. BUT if i put the file in the phone's windows folder it can play it. so ok na diba-but when i turn off the SAP - ka poof the ringtone file gets erased. MAy sira kaya itong SAP ko? just got it may 17. BTW my SAP doesn't vibrate also thnx for any help
Guest jabez Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Hi ponxman! The .wav's and the .midi's that my SAP uses for ringtones and alerts are in the IPSM/Application Data/Sounds Folder. I encountered no problem with missing files in this set-up. Try it! Mabuhay!
Guest dinoalbert Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 @ponxman you placed the ringtone in the wrong folder....instead place your ringtones in IPSM/Application Data/Sounds Folder If you dont have the Sound folder, just create one using Active Sync
Guest jabonga Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 @dinoalbert, nagcreate na ako ng folder ng sounds sa application data, how come ayaw tumunog ng ringtone format naman nya midi. tnx
Guest dinoalbert Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 make sure you created "Sounds", not "My Sounds".....inside Application Data Folder then on your phone, click on Programs-->Settings-->Sounds, you should then be able to see the ringtones you placed in Ringtone for Line1, in fact you could see in in all fields including New SMS.. btw, ang alam ko kse .wav files lang ang pwede as ringtones? Not sure kung pwede midi files....anyone can confirm on this?
Guest dinoalbert Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 from www.smart.com.ph : What ring tone formats are supported? SMART Amazing Phone supports WAV and MIDI files. However, it may only support monophonic MIDI files and WAV files must be encoded using a PCM codec. You can use one of the conversion tools available on the web. Search for "MIDI to WAV" at www.msn.com for several applications that can assist with this. Where do I copy the ring tones to on my phone? From your PC, use ActiveSync's Explore icon to browse to My SmartphoneIPSMApplication DataSounds. If you don't see the Sounds folder in IPSMApplication Data, create it. These files can also be used for other alerts such as SMS, email, alarms, etc.
Guest docles2002 Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Hi guys I am a new smartphone user. I wonder where can I get free ringtones aside from those that smart are offering. TY
Guest docles2002 Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Thanks Dino. How about free games.? I have only Solitaire in my game folder
Guest ponxman Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 to all, who replied to my question. THNX!!!! THNX!!! TNX!!! ponxman
Guest pyke Posted June 3, 2003 Report Posted June 3, 2003 another option is, play the tune.while the tune is playing, press menu and choose save.mase-save yung tune automatically in the appropriate folder...which is the "sounds" folder.
Guest v3il Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 its kinda surprising that the tanager doesn't support polyphonic tones (well neither does the canary)... its just surprising.... everyone and their grandma seems to support polyphonic already (starting with the n7650 models upwards) samsung seems to have the best polyphonic output (they use yamaaha boards if I'm not mistaken)
Guest grifter Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 in theory, i think it's possible for the OS/ROM to be upgraded/patched to play polytones since the phone's hardware can support it. heck, it can play mp3, wma, wav files, it sure as hell can play polytones! all they have to do is to incorporate a software wavetable synthesizer(yamaha, msft gs, etc.) in the next ROM update. it works for the PC, i think it would work for the SAP. unless the Smartphone 2K2 OS doesn't natively support wavetables. oh no! hmmm... just thinking out loud. :D
Guest dinoalbert Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 @v3il why? I am surprised too that you prefer polyphonic than real music (.wav) tones? Nokias use polyphonic....simply because they are ONLY nokias  everyone and their grandma cant be compared to the smartphone.... IMHO polyphonic tones are inferior to wav ringtones.....why use only a yamaha keyboard when you can use all instruments? :D
Guest grifter Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 midi files are preferred due to there small file size. and generally, wav files are "quieter" than midi files.
