Bending the rules a bit, but this is H&A, so here goes :

Can some USB experts take a look at the thread here and help my good friend Megalos, one of our Greek SPV users, feeling mighty lonesome in his outpost?

We have identified that his USB is, I think, seriously messed up, and preventing his updating the phone, which is now stuck in three colour screen.

To fix the phone, he just needs to find another PC, but to fix the computer, is there anyone willing to take a look?

I'm no expert on this and don't want to trash his PC.

Megalos' thread here!

Hi Syvwlch,

I just had a quick look at that thread, and although I admit I haven't read it through completely, I can at least say that having three USB root hub and three host controllers in Device Manager is not unusual or necessarily wrong. Not all machines have more than one (out of a laptop, my main desktop (both XP) and the Win 2K3 Server I have running at the moment, only my desktop has multiple entries

The hubs will be identical in Device Manager, but the USB Universal Host Controllers will each (if you check their properties) be the same apart from their locations - the PCI bus and device numbers will be the same, but the 'function' will be different, sequential, numbers, and will have different addresses (look in resources).

One root hub goes with each controller.

Thanks, that is reassuring.

His phone problems are sorted out, and it's good to know that his USB is ok. :)
