Guest Taoski Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Is there any other way (apart from ActiveStink or Infrared) to access the contents of the SPV via a USB connection and Windows? I have a USB charge/sync cable to use when i am at work - so i can just plug into the USB to charge mainly - but we are not allowed to install the ActiveSync software due to our desktop images being hunted regularly for "non standard" software. I suppose you could then use your SPV like a mini-hard drive. Can anyone help? :?:
Guest vijay555 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 used to be something similar on ipaq that would allow mounting without activesync. Can't remember anything about it now. Maybe HTC/SPV drivers have changed anyway now, to make it impossible. Have you got infra red access? We've got XP at work and administator lockout on new hardware, so i'm buggered too. Anyone thought about making a terminal application like USBTerm to permit normal file access to the phone without activesync? Come on peeps, you know we need it! V
Guest Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Would using a USB SD Card reader work? It does mean continually moving the SD from the SPV > Card Reader > SPV and is a hassle but does mean that you don't have to install any software / drivers. I also obviously means that to get anything on the phone you would have to shuttle it to the SD first (even more grief! ) In fact the more I think about it the worse it sounds!
Guest James Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 the only other thing i can think of is to email apps to the phone. nightmare i know :)
Guest Will Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Might sound stupid but why not ask your Admin to install activesync, or permit it's installation? :? It's a real and free MS product.. i don't see a problem, unless they check your web use log and see the amount of time you've been on Modaco  Will
Guest Taoski Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Actually - i am an admin at the company i work for - but i am just playing on the right side of the law (for a change  ) I think i will just install it anyway - and be damned!
