Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Has anybody got the PC version of Enter the Matrix? If so are you finding you're getting somewhat dissapointing performance? I'm running it it 800*600 (and the patch) and STILL getting lack luster performance. (am also getting artifacts during in engine cut scenes) My PC specs are: AthlonXP 2000 512Mb DDR PC2100 RAM 2x80Gb HDD (RAID Striped) Nvidia GeForce 4 4200Ti (128Mb) SBLive! 5.1 Player I've been watching the promo mpgs and they run smooth as silk. Am I missing something obvious? Or is it bugged to hell?
Guest vijay555 Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 what's the game like Protozoa? i can't be bothered to get it, since Max Payne's been there-done that! But the xbox market's a bit dry right now, and i've been spending so much time Smartphoning recently that my pc doesn't even get a look in for games anymore! V
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 It's not bad at all. It's gotten good reviews. I've only done the 1st and 2nd mission so far, so I can't really make an informed opinion yet. It has all the beginnings of a good game, but the bugs keep ditracting from that. Once it starts runing smoothly it should get a lot better.
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Sorry but it's crap!!! To start off it's quite good, and the fightings fun... But then it starts to drag and the but get worse (the clipping is right on a pissa).... It's more of a DUMP of the xbox version rather than a port!!! Deadlines and ting.... ;(
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Oh but the performance was OK for me.... :)
Guest ChrisJM Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 iv got the xbox version and it rocks 8) :)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 Should be able to get a copy tomorrow so i'll see how it gets on with my GF2MX ;p
Guest MECX Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 You have got direct X 9 and the new nvidia drivers? have you over clocked your graphics card? i had similar sorts of problems with unreal 2003 when my Geforce 2 GTS RAM was over clocked to far.
Guest MECX Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Sorry was asking Mr_Protozoa. but if you are having problems with artifacts and you have an overclocked graphics card--try slowing the RAM down a bit. DirectX 9 also did wonders for my graphics
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Ahhhh, no the artifacts are well known on this game, cut scenes with objects (and people) inside out!!! Though i think DetFX wasn't helping me to much!! Mr_Protozoa what happens when you crank up the res? i found that i got the same performance at pritty much any res! (never a good sign in an engine!!)
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I'm running DirectX 9a Nvidia Driver Version 4.4.0.3 I've not got anything overclocked I've cranked it back up to 1280*1024 and it runs pretty much the same. I had a dream last night that I met Dave Perry and complained about the performance. He said he was aware of the issue and it will be resolved shortly. Lets hope it's a preminition and not just my over active imagination!
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 You should have poked him in the eye and ask him why he release such an unfinished product!!! :) What ever happend to the glory days of Shiny? :(
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 He did apologise to me. Remember the good old days... Earthworm Jim MDK Messiah (wasn't theie best, but still damn good fun)
Guest amo Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 What drivers do u recommend when using a Geforce 4 Ti with DX9?
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Have a go with 44.03 (Detonator FX, nvidia site) and see how you get on, just don't tell anyone with an ATI that you are using those!!! :) Oh and run 3DMark2003 and see if you can see a dragon!!!!! :( :D
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Depends... Give them a try!!! PS these drivers detect when you run 3DMark2003 and monkey around to get a better score!!!! So install this patch for 3DMark2003 to get the real result. http://www.warp2search.net/article.php?sid...=thread&order=0 :)
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Heh, I tried an older version of 3DMark on my laptop and it scored about 5fps on most of the 3D stuff... hoho. My graphics accelerator card will play video but it sure as hell won't play games, but then it was cheap so I don't care and I own a PS2 anyway :-) Hmmm, dodgy game on the PC, how rare is that?? Um, not at all... it's so much easier for game studios to rush out unfinished PC games because you can always patch them later. That said, if the 3D engine is lame to start with then you're not going to fix that...
Guest ClintEastman Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 hmmm thats a bit cheeky aint it Abit but ATI are at it too! :)
Guest vijay555 Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 Hey, have you guys seen the lesbian kiss yet with Ms Pinkett-Smith and the girl with the nice boobies? Wow. Can spot that target audience a mile off, right  I must admit, i was very dubioius about the game at first, i mean film licenses, eh? Say na more. But then, you get into it, and i'm finding that i enjoyed it significantly more than the film. It's quiet easy, and seriously, some of the collision detection is unforgivable, but i like the fact that it significantly builds into the new film. The cut scenes are seriously hammy, but overall, quiet enjoyable. There's much better games out there, but for the novelty, and once you get used to ALL of the controls, it's a blast, IMHO. BTW, Xbox version. Oh, and Animatrix = Matrix Reloaded^3 V
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 26, 2003 Report Posted May 26, 2003 I've manged to get better performance in ETM recently. In the config screen before you start the game uncheck all of the 4 tickboxes. (Gamma, LOD, WBuffer and Shadows). This should make it run a bit better, although it doesn't look quite a pretty as it should. It's still alright tho. If you having problems with frame rates during the bullet time mode, open up "MatrixConfig.ini" and look for the line; ALTERNATEFOCUS=0 change it to ALTERNATEFOCUS=1 You'll now use a differant bullet time mode. Again, doesn't look as pretty, but will run at a decent speed. Apparently there's a frame rate limiter in the engine, but it limits focus mode too much because it counts the bulred frames (between the actual frames) and thus dereases the actual frame rate. Hope this is of help.
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted May 26, 2003 Report Posted May 26, 2003 Damnit! I've just finished the game with Niobe! How short is this game? I've already done most of it with Ghost too! Grrrr...
