Guest vijay555 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Paul, or any other Most Valued Know-All, do you have any idea if the spvx be de-certified? i'm just picturing the situation that orange is going to be clearing shelves of spvs at bargain prices, and the Tanager will have the de-certification "bug" fixed, and we're left without uncertified software. And here's me waiting to buy an SPVx.. Perhaps it's been mentioned elsewhere? For me, homebrew software is the killer app(s) for SmartPhone... where would we be without it? V
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 As pointed out in this thread: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=6332 the software is effectively "indepenent" of the hardware, so the version of SmartPhone2002 that is released on the Tanagers will determine how decertifiable they are...
Guest vijay555 Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 exactly Monolithix, that's what i meant: has anyone who's played with Tanager been in a position to test if the current de-certing procedures work?
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I think people who have tanager's at the moment haven't exactly got them through "normal" channels. We need to wait until various networks release them. Ie, Orange, will they lock it like the SPV or will they be more hypocritical than they already are. Vodafone, T-Mobile etc, will they lock it at all?
Guest yatpeak Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 If they don't, Orange will probably have to unlock them as well. Wyatt
