Guest martin Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 I was just wondering if any one has messenger and email working on their SPV using O2 CONTRACT In Settings-Data Connections, what do you have connected to 'Internet connection' as this is for for HTTP (required for messenger & email).
Guest gizmoy2k Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 I am using the folowing connections from the post in help and advice: Connection name: O2 Internet Connects to: Internet Access Point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: o2wap Password: password Primary DNS: 193.113.200.200 Secondary DNS: 193.113.200.201 IP address: Blank i have created two GPRS connections one for internet and the other for wap as described in the same post, I notice there is also a proxy setting for o2 about somewhere aswell do i need this? Thanks for your help
Guest martin Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 This 'WAP connection' uses APN wap.o2.co.uk and is for connection to WML pages using the WSP. You also need the WAP proxy created. This is used to connect to wsp://wap.o2.co.uk The 'Internet connection' uses APN mobile.o2.co.uk and uses HTTP for connection to WML pages, HTML pages and also for messenger & E-mail transfer. I had a pre-pay O2 SIM and therefore did not have the GPRS access point mobile.o2.co.uk given by O2, so I use had to use O2 CSD as the 'Internet connection' instead. If you are contract then you should be OK, see GPRS settings page2.
Guest gizmoy2k Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 hi there, i got this working with your settings, thanks i have an contract with o2 but it is through singlepoint, it looks like i have to use the csd settings aswell, the gprs settings dont even appear in the list for connections to the internet. do you have any idea roughly how much it costs to use this?? Thanks again for your help Gizmo

I don't know how much you will pay through your particular account. I was using a pre-pay SIM and luckily the CSD connection was termed a WAP connection by O2. So i got it free although I think it was subject to spending £10 a month but I never confirmed this. Don't O2 have a facility to check your billing account online ?
