Hi,

I recently tried to run the new orange update software on my phone but the program crashed halfway through. Since then i cant boot my phone at all. It just loads to a screen with three colours that say canary on each line. I listened to oranges advice about just rerunning the program but that doesnt work. The program just crashes again. My phone isnt recognised by my computer activesync either.

Can anyone help? i cant afford to have it repaired.

thanks,

steve

You need to run the update again. :x

When on the canary screen it should say serial at the bottom left. Plug into the cradle and this should change to USB. Run the update when it says USB.

When the update is finished, keep you finger on the power button for about 10 seconds and the phone should auto boot . Then leave the phone alone and go and make a sandwich or something, it takes a while to initialise.

It should hopefully recover itself in time. Good luck

If possible, try hijacking a mates PC (running XP or 2000) and rerun the update there, leaving the phone in the cradle in the Canary MV screen.

Hi

I've had a similar problem. Would the same solution work for me, ie getting hold of windows 2000 or xp system. Also what i have found is when i try to do hard reset, i press 8 to delete ippm file it says done and passed but then when i press any button including the power button it goes back to the original screen with the ippm file still present at position 8. if i take battery out and switch on, i have no change goes as originally to the the three band canary screen. I wanted to know if this is normal for the spv to do when it has crashed while trying to update it, or have i got a major problem which your suggestion of trying the update on windows 2000 will not fix. Please reply soon . Thanks

Yep, just leave it in the Canary MV screen, plug it into your cradle attached to another 2k or XP machine and rerun the update.

Mate exactly the same thing happened to me in the week - phone Orange, they will take you through the whole reboot process, start to finish

If you're trying to hard reset once you get the "PASSED" notice on erasing IPSM, just pull the battery for 30 seconds or so, then turn the phone on and wait for the phone to boot. This can take 10-15 minutes.
