Guest Firaas Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 i had it in pocket of my hoody today , and it is liable to fall ouyt, do you know if the orange care covers against accidental loss?? That's the only type of loss covered - intentional loss is neglect, and malicious loss is malicious damage/theft. Having it in an unzipped pocket may affect your claim. I was advised, after claiming for a smashed screen (it fell out of hands when i was carrying a load of stuff) that I should carry it in a zipped pocket in the future.
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 FIrst time around, Orange will usually point to the small print showing why your claim is invalid... then give you a replacement as a "goodwill" gesture. They'll also make a note that they did so - it's not going to happen a second time. Note that the gist of what you say when making a claim will be RECORDED. (Not audio recording - just someone making a note) Orange do NOT like it when the story changes - when you ring them to enquire if you're covered for the phone falling out of your pocket, being told "no", and then you ringing back to say your pocket was picked. Whoever deals with the second call will be sitting there looking at notes written up when you made the FIRST call. Overall, they're pretty lenient /generous. Bear in mind however that you're not necessarily going to get a new phone unless the one being replaced was brand new (14 days?) They'll replace it with a boxed-as-new refurb. Not, in itself, a bad thing. Quality control for refurbs is probably higher than for new phones!
