Guest cpt_andy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I have put a new Orange PAYG SIM in my phone and have set up the correct settings for GPRS, and it seems to connect to GPRS, but IE hangs on "Connecting...", after displaying "Dialling..." and "Finding Site". I have spoken to Orange a few times, including once with a relatively knowledgeable person, and have had numerous settings send aswell as setting up DNS etc. but without success. I occasionly get the "This page cannot be found" message, or "Cannot Dial". Any ideas from the ever resourceful Modaco community?? Regards, Andy
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Anything else work with GPRS? MMS, MSN Messenger, email?
Guest cpt_andy Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 It seems that email works, but just V slowly (like 5 mins to check mail). MSN doesn't work. Occasionaly I can get a site up, but not graphics and it is really slow. It was no where near this slow on contract. I have been told that it may be a network problem. I'll give it a few days to see if it sorts itself out. Any ideas would be appreciated though. Regards, Andy
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 When it connects, are you getting a little G next to the power meter on the top right, rather than just a big G in the top center?
Guest cpt_andy Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 still having problems... The G does appear in the signal bars and it seems to connect, but just goes really slowly so ie and msn are timing out, as far as i can tell. will call Orange again...
Guest Ron Jeremy Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 cpt.....I had this exact problem repeatedly a while ago however since installing the UK SPV ROM update the stability of GPRS connections is much improved on your SPV goto ProgramsSettingsAbout and scroll down to ROM update versions. the latest version is 1.3.5.6, if you've not got this goto the orange web site then download and install the ROM upgrade. If you have this version of the ROM then this has been a bit of an unhelpful post....
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 Is the GPRS connection set to connect to the Internet? Not WAP or something else?
