Guest PsychoDave Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Alright Folks :) Some of you might have noticed I had a prob with my phone switching off when it was charging. After a good fews calls to 15x and many promises of a call back I phoned today with, i'm ashamed to admit, a bit of a temper  The guy on the other end of the phone was pretty unhelpful yawning through my call and telling the people around him that he had another "spiv" call. He finally gave up on me and gave me the number for "THE SPV TEAM" Dunno if any of you have spoken to them to see what they are like they are meant to be pretty good according to the guy i spoke to but I'll reserve judgement till i can see for myself. Any thoughts, as usual apologies if this has been mentioned before I tried searching but drew a blank. Take it easy guys 8)
Guest Vector Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Cool, never heard of " the spv team " Edit- actually thinking about it he probably meant us :)
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I thought that too but he gave me a number starting 01202 wherever that is. :? I had already told him about being a member here. That seemed to put him off talkin anymore. :)
Guest Vector Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 That code is a bournemouth code, not that it matters :)
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Yeah cheers tho. Still its a shame i couldn't get thru this is startin to bug me. Do you think if I just told them about the dust under my screen it might save me a bit of grief and get them to replace it. Its obviously faulty. I mean some days it takes half an hour to switch on GRRR    Oh well Musnt grumble eh lad :)
Guest Vector Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 HALF AN HOUR to switch on  My power buttons faulty but half an hour, and with the dust under the screen, they should give you a replacement for that
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Yeah but I was told it wasn't a service related fault, I kinda found that hard to understand. :?
Guest Charlie Mouse Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I think the number is probably for a company called Wireless Data Somethingorother. Its a part of Hugh Symons and deals with the technical stuff for orange. I hope they know what they are talking about because a mate of mine just got a job there and I live round the corner :)
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Nice one. I hope they do too. :) Its about time we got some decent service from guys who just dealt with our kinds of problems. Whatever I said about O above, I still don't blame the guys on the phones there just doin there job, well most of them. Its not their fault O can't get their act together. ;)
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 About starting the phone... I've found that I need to click on the keypad (up or down keys, by habit) a second or so before I hit the power button. This may be superstition on my part, but it really seems to help. I'd be curious to know if you think it helps you?
Guest PsychoDave Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Cheers for your help Syvwlch, but I don't know if this will help (although superstitions alright on my book) :) The phone itself turns on to the orange screen and then it dies straight away. I'll give it a try tho, maybe should try getting a clover leaf out too, well it is st paddys day or near enough. ;) ________________________ Peace
Guest Playdoh Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Wireless Data Services - http://www.wdsglobal.com/ I believe these guys are behind the OTA (over the air) email configuration for SPV which can be found at http://www.orange.co.uk/mobileemail/person...umber=undefined
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 I think the number is probably for a company called Wireless Data Somethingorother. Its a part of Hugh Symons and deals with the technical stuff for orange. I hope they know what they are talking about because a mate of mine just got a job there and I live round the corner :) If it is... then try not to let on that you know, or a sh*t storm is likely to be started. This post is NOT going to be popular with either Orange or WDS, who for some reason are VERY strict about keeping this secret. But the guys at WDS are hot. Calls get transferred to "extension 222" when 156 have run out of ideas, and the guy on the other end of the new call will be very careful about not letting on that you're no longer dealing with Orange, but a subcontractor. I seem to recall one of them telling me that letting-on was a sackable offence. These are often the guys who WRITE the scripts that 156 use. I didn't mention it, because I knew Orange weren't happy about people knowing... but now the cat is well and truly out of the bag, and the info is in the public domain...
Guest ferpferp Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 HA! I also got the number for the 'SPV Team' (01295 662109) during my fourth call the orange to sort out the problems with my phone. It turned out to be the number for HTC I think, who told me 'Idon't know why you're calling us, we don't deal with the public direct - call orange'! I am starting to hate my phone and am sick of the crap support I'm getting from orange. The people I have talked to have been totally unhelpful and I'm still waiting for someone to call me back - I raised my problem with orange a week ago. I've called 6 since then, I'm still no closer to getting any result. The staff at orange are normally not interested in helping or don't have a clue. I'll be complaining to orange in writing - not that I'm sure it will get me anywhere - has anyone else had the run-around like this? A very p*ssed-off, Ferps.
Guest ev500 Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Hi, I got given the number for the spv team when I was trying tp persued orange that they should give me a replacment. by the way, i bought my phone from ebay, and orange say that because i didn't get it directly through them they are unable to give me a replacement, even though it is still under warranty with them. Does anyone know whether I am entitled to a replacement?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 All depends on the small print as most warranties are not transferable, and would be void. So you could well be stuck with a duff phone  ps What is your problem with the phone?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 I was given the "SPV team" a long way back, before Xmas after deperately trying to get Orange to do something about the SMS stright to SIM problem. They seemed surprised when i told them where i got hte number
Guest Firaas Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Does anyone know whether I am entitled to a replacement? Not through Orange. If there's a problem with your phone, you need to contact the person you bought it from.
