Guest neuronisis Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Hi all, my phone WAS de-certed, well up until yesterday when it had a funny turn. I was playing around with the DivX player, when, total crash. Battery off, wait 10 seconds. Turn on and there it was the damned camper home screen from hell. All my program folders, rearranged. Doesn't matter though because all my unsigned apps DON'T WORK!!! aaggghhhhhh, MY PHONE IS NOW RE-CERTED!!!! Now this is the 3rd time this has happened to me. Has anyone else suffered this really annoying pain in the arse problem? Or do you think it might actually be a problem with the phone itself, just ressetting itself? I posted about this before but i was wondering maybe this time some one might have the answer. Cheers
Guest Hax Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Yep - quite a few people (including me) have suffered this problem - it's been mentioned here before and currently on the msnews group for the smartphone. Basically, it appears to be caused (or so the common belief is) by a corruption of the registry and is the phone's attempt of recovering from the corruption. HTH, Hax
Guest neuronisis Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 hmmm...yeh that makes sense. I have been poking around in their quite a bit and installing every available piece of software to download. Ho hum........de-cert again..........................
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 It's also been suggested that dodgy xml can cause this as well.
Guest yatpeak Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 It's really quite annoying as you also lose other things, such as the home screen theme, and you have to set the phone back up to the way you had it. It's like a hard reset without deleting any information (contacts etc.)/programs on the phone. Wyatt
Guest neuronisis Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Hi again, i've had the phone since November and i've had quite a few SIM ERRORS as well. 8 to be precise! I get the 'sim not recognized.....etc etc'. Also before i decerted, the phone had reset itself once already. What with all this i phoned Orange last night and explained about the sim error(not the resetting) and they said something to the effect that my phone was in one of the first batch's and this particular batch has had a lot of problems. So they're kindly replacing my phone today. :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 I've had my phone the same ammount of time as you, I'd better watch out then :) At least it's sorted for you now.
Guest Will Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Orange have sent out a replacement sim to a friend of mine, apparently it's more suited to the spv.. It's got a marked difference, in that instead of curves separating the various contacts, it's a different design with straight lines. Will
