Guest omar_g Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Having unlocked my SPV, I am using it with my O2 sim card. I am unable to connect to GPRS in any shape or form. I am met with the message: "unable to place call" when using MSN messenger, Internet Explorer or MMS. I have the correct settings, and I am able to use GPRS wap, Internet and MMS (im using NowMMS) in either of my other handsets (Nokia 7650 & 6610) with the same settings/sim combination. I removed all Orange connections, and still no luck, either using O2 as an "Internet" connection or "Wap." Am I missing a simple setting somewhere in the phone, which would restrict my from using non-orange services? HELP!!!! :)
Guest neilg Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 only thing I can htink of is the APN name - the 7650 would use that wap.o2.co.uk APN you need to use the gull GPRS o2 apn for an SPV (I think "mobile.o2.co.uk" it is on their website under XDA settings I think. It sounds like you may have tried this already so other than that I can help much. To get a further response I suggest you list all of the settings you are using (I know its a pain) but at least then someone on here can go through them an easily spot if something is up, otherwise we are all just guessing. Hope this works, good luck
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Omar, We've been trying to help you in H&A, we really have. By starting a new thread here, you are just generating questions that YOU have already answered in that other thread, like the one above about your current settings... The very least you can do is point to that thread, for the benefit of the hypothetical advanced users that will now try to help you. http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...4442&highlight=
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 It's your lucky day! The solution is available on the old thread. apb075 got it to work on his SPV :) http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=4442 Tell us if it works for you... in the old thread?
Guest omar_g Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Syvwlch, Neilg, Thanks for the help. I didnt intend to annoy established forum elders by cross posting, rather to draw attention to a problem which quite a few people seem to be having (these posts often get ignored by the most knowledgeable forum members out on the help & advice board). Having said that, I apologise, and if any mod's happen to past by the thread, i'd appriciate if they could delete it for me please? Right, i'll trot over and have a look at that post you dug up Syvwlch. Thank you once again guys.
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Omar, allow me to get off my high horse, and apologize for the curt reply. This forum is here to help, and I was out of line there. I'm happy a solution was found, and I hope it works out for you. On a final note, tho, if you use the List Users Who Have Viewed This Post option on the posts in H&A, you'll find most "established members" (I like that one, BTW :) ) have dropped in regularly. If they are not posting, it is because they have no further ideas beyond what has already been posted. Hasta la vista, and good SPVin'!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 if any mod's happen to past by the thread, i'd appriciate if they could delete it for me please? As links have been given here how about I just lock it for you :)
