Guest randy Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 thanks for all the responses! =) yes i configured my phone using the guideline. i used the pop3/smtp servers of ispbonanza. i can receive emails, but cannot send them out. i get the error message - invalid message recipients. helpppppp! this is sooo frustrating. =( ty it's an issue of "open-relay". ispbonanza is not vulnerable to spammers where they use other mail server to send emails. this is what im trying to point out on this thread and to smart's customer support. smart shld provide us an smtp server. try using hotpop.com
Guest t_t628 Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 hi. i tried hotpop already. am still getting the same error message. =(
Guest randy Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 i think you have to use both their pop3 and smtp server. are you using only their smtp server?
Guest t_t628 Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 hi randy. im using both the pop and smtp servers.
Guest ppcsurfr Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 If you are doing email... try using dial-up. Mabuhay ~ Carlo (ppcsurfr) President
Guest checkyoulater Posted May 28, 2003 Report Posted May 28, 2003 i wrote this down on my previous post...on SMTP topic...but since i don't know how to link..... after setting your phone to the settings of hotpop, don't forget to check the box in the sending option (the one that says sending requires authentication, or something like that....hope that helps you....hotpop works just dandy..... by the way...is there any option on the phone to automatically check for emails every few minutes or so???
Guest t_t628 Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 hi. IT WORKS! thank you. thank you. thank you!

Guest checkyoulater Posted May 29, 2003 Report Posted May 29, 2003 everything should be working....hmmm...how about you re-configuring your email account again on the phone, make sure you're using both pop and smtp servers of hotpop. don't make a mistake.... server type POP3 incoming mail server pop.hotpop.com outgoing mail server smtp.hotpop.com network The Internet   good luck  :!:
Guest t_t628 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 i tried what u said... still cant receive emails! oh mannnnnnn!
Guest jabez Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Can somebody please give us an idea of how much a single-paragraph e-mail (about 20-25 words) cost to send or receive? You see, after the initial euphoria of being able to send and receive e-mails on the SAP comes the reality of the monthly bill. I was shocked to see that the two times I "surfed" the net on my SAP to check on the LA Lakers' playoffs score cost me Php200+. That's about Php100 for every score/game I checked. (TALO PA!) I'm afraid sending and receiving e-mails might cost just like this or even higher.
Guest silke Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 please help... i use hotpop account but still cannot receive/send emails.... pop server = pop.hotpop.com smtp server = smtp.hotpop.com i usually get the error "cannot recognize incoming server. please check the server name and try again" i dont know why is this happening... =( i tried it again using another cellphone(not the SAP) using Globe lines and it works... why wouldn't it work in my SAP????? im currently suscribing on Smart Gold Plan 800... can sumbody help me....pleaze.... :) the first to reply is the first to receive my kiss.... thank you...damo gid nga salamat ;)

Guest spv_dman Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Does anybody know the outgoing server settings for eudora web mail? for the incoming i used email.eudoramail.com. Usually it starts with "smtp". Check out if smtp.eudoramail.com will work for you.
Guest mariolouis Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 @silke/t_t628 try this, go to inbox/menu/options/sending.. tick server requires authentication.
Guest virgil Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 tried hotpop and it works!!!!

Ask those who are from SMART mas alam nila. Surfing will really cost a lot kasi may mga images ng kasama yan , mahal na talaga. i suggest when you just want NEWS , check on SMART MENU na lang... ung sa ZED NEWS. OR if you still want to surf, edit the options na you just want the texts, no images. If gusto mo pictures, better go to an internet cafe.
Guest adi116 Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 I encountered problems in accessing hotpop. Now I'm using softhome.net, ok naman. na-try ko na mag-send and receive e-mail.
Guest matanglawin Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Can somebody please give us an idea of how much a single-paragraph e-mail (about 20-25 words) cost to send or receive? According to my bill, it's P5.00 per email sent (no matter how large the file is...actually file size limit is set by the pop3/smtp server like HoTpop).
