Well, I've been messing around all day with encoding DVD files using DivX to view on my phone. I've finally found a bit rate that has produced results that I'm relatively happy with. I've been encoding music videos as I only have the 8 MB card that came with the phone.

Anyway, I've got to go on a train trip next week and figured it would be nice to be able to watch a feature film whilst on the train but the only thing is I'm going to need a nice fat new card to put it on.

So, do I go for MMC or SD. I understand from reading up about the difference between the two that SD has a write protect switch, that's of no use to me at all. The data on SD cards is secure, again that is of no use to me at all. Lastly the data transfer rate of SD is faster, this is where the significance could be. Will this make a difference to viewing video from the card? I obviously would rather buy an MMC card if the transfer rate will be fast enough as because of the price difference it would be the difference between me getting a 256MB or a 128MD SD card.

Has anyone had any experiences with this that they would like to pass on?

Well, I've been looking around and it looks like if I want 256MB then I have to go for an SD card anyway as MMC cards only seem to go up to 128MB. Is this correct?

SD has a faster access speed and the lock function like on a floppy disk as well
