Hello all,

Decided that i didn't need all that fancy stuff like background picture, gradient menu's etc. So I made this (my first!) xml file. Currently only dutch language codes are used, but that should be no problem to change for those interested :wink:

My spv feels faster now 8)

err, you are kidding right? rather boring isnt it?

oh, and removing the graduated stripes makes absolutely no difference in speed (it cant do, the stripes are still there, just set to the same colour as the background)

I thought the gradient was rendered on the fly? Because you set two colors, the spv needs to calculate the gradient?

Yes, but, calculating a gradient aint exactly tricky, it still makes the calculation even if its #ffffff to #ffffff even though there is nothing there.

Also, even though this is a good idea in principal, i think most users would sacrifice a little speed to make their phone look nice (or everyone would just delete the background pictures from oiut of IPSMApplication DataHome, which essentially makes the homescreens appear like yours (with the added benefit of chooseable colour schemes)). The multiscreened homescreens are very popular, and everyone knows they slow down the phone.

Like i said though, it is a good idea for those who want a little extra speed out of the phone, just doesnt look quite as flash hehe :lol:

i wasnt newbie bashing, all i was saying was that skins are there to make the phone look nice, i was just saying that although this is a good idea in principal (which it is, anything that speeds up the phone has to be good), in practice people who have smartphones want it to look a bit flash, something that sticks two fingers up to nokia owners and says 'do that mr 3650'. Now, if a homescreen can be made to look great, yet, still have a nice speed increase then that would be cool.

and if robster needs any help, xml, graphics or otherwise then just ask :lol:

And yes, of course people may choose the theme that they like best, as for me, flashy is nice (midnight's theme is awesome :!: ) but I want it to be as fast as possible :wink:
